Eric Tenhog two games by Leverkusen out. Why have they done it? It was funny because the sporting director uh Simon Ralph who used to play for them of course he spoke about it at lunchtime today gave a press conference. Uh Eric Tenhogs had his social media retor and maybe we’ll get to that in a a little minute but um Ralph has said look I I made a mistake but it would have made it a worse mistake if I hadn’t have done anything about it. Now, of course, you go back to him taking over in July when he wasn’t the first choice. They thought they had Ces Fabregas. They didn’t um because Ko wouldn’t let him go and um Fabregas wasn’t prepared to go to war with them, of course, as a part shareholder. Uh and so they ended up a couple of choices down the line with Tenhog and it felt like quite a good placeholder. He’s got a good reputation in in in Germany. But from the off there were misgivings. I mean what about 2 weeks in they went on this promotional tour of Brazil and lost 5-1 to the Flamingo under 20s and uh then he said after that well no one’s bothered about the results of preseason games are they? Everyone’s a little bit on edge and then from there of course lots of people who are defending Tenhog will understandably say of course they’ve sold a lot of players even before Hinapio they’d sold over 200 million euros worth of players this summer. So, it’s a real sea change. But one of the the key players going was Granite Jakra, of course, who was the the chief lieutenant of on pitch of Jabi Alonzo, but that they felt that he didn’t really make much sense in a post Jabi Lonzo world. They could get out from under the rest of his expensive contract, make some money with him. And the CEO, Fernando Cattle, and Ralph as the sporting director, they sign this off with Tenhog. And then Tenhog goes public and says, “I don’t think we should tell him.” I’m pretty sure that’s not the conversation we had two days ago. And this was one of a series of things that really set them on edge. And then you could tell in the first couple of games, not only were the performances poor, not only did the team look really untrained, but it was the fact that Mark Flecken, who of course has just joined from from Brenford after the first game where they lost at home to Hoffenheim, he was happy to like tear the team’s performance to bits in front of journalists. You’re like, well, if Tenhog really had authority here, that wouldn’t happen. You had an argument over who was taking a penalty at the at the weekend and the captain had to step in. Tenhog moaned about that in the press conference afterwards. So, he’s contributed quite a lot to his own downfall as well. Andy, we’ve got about 15 seconds. Can you tell us what how Tenhog reacted to his sacking? Um, he said it was all Everkus’s fault basically. He said he didn’t felt feel backed by the club and everyone who’s ever stuck with him has won a trophy at the end of the season. Spoiler alert, if they’d have stuck with him, they wouldn’t have.

  1. The commentator was pretty smug. Ten Hag won trophies at almost all the clubs he coached at.

His record at Leverkusen was one win, one draw and one loss.

To me- if you hire a coach do your homework first.

  2. Honestly these pundits are clowns. makeing fun of a guy who has achieved more than any of them can ever do as a manager. why a manager would be happy if the board keeps selling most of the first team starters ? and they are mocking him for not getting results in first 2 games ? you clearly don't have any ball knowledge if you say this stupid stuff. Yes he failed at united but he is right that he won 2 trophies. if it was arteta they would have lauded his progress and blah blah, but the fact is he has done nothing in last 5 years at arsenal and is still praised. These guys were never respectful to ETH even when he was at United.

  3. Smartest decision theyve EVER made

Worst manager I've ever seen in my lifetime, tactics, speaking, his talent spotting is atrocious we nearly lost amad because he preferred Antony

  4. I get all the stuff people have said about this.
HOWEVER…..Leverkusen did INTERVIEW HIM, you imagine ?
What sort of questions did they ask ?
HOW did he answer them ?
WHAT did he ask for ?
WERE early signs missed, like " I'm in charge…I decide everything," go unnoticed ?

I wasn't a ten Haag fan when we had him, but I cant help but feel sorry for him now and the way Leverkusen has talked about him, when THEY dont come out of it smelling of Roses, either ? 🤔🤨

  5. I’m a united fan, i didn’t want ten hag sacked, but more to the point it wasn’t about ten hag it was about starting the manager cycle again, he’s a half decent manager but needs time were ever he goes. Bayer leverkusen have just lost respect from myself for this what a joke, he’ll be happy thought nice pay out for a couple weeks work haha. Hope whoever takes him next gives the man time.
