Took the Orbea Denna M20i off the tarmac and into the heart of the Lake District’s Grizedale Forest to see how it handles on gravel. 🚴‍♂️✨ From smooth fire roads to loose, rocky climbs, this ride put the Denna through its paces.

In this video, I’ll cover:
• How the Orbea Denna performs on mixed gravel terrain
• Comfort and handling on climbs & descents
• Whether it’s versatile enough beyond the road

If you’re considering the Denna as a one-bike solution or just curious how it copes with rougher trails, this ride should give you a good idea.

[Music] [Music] Hello there and welcome back to the channel. And today I am on the Aia Denner in Gradale Forest testing out some of these fantastic gravel trails and seeing what this can do on gravel. So stay with me. I’m going to sit you on me chest and show you these fantastic trails. And we’re going to have some fun on this bike. test out the motor, test out everything and see what it copes like on these trails. So stay with me and let’s get further down the trail. Let’s go. [Music] [Applause] [Music] So, first of all, what I’ll say about these tires I’ve got on, they are gripping really well uh to this loose gravel. And uh yeah, I feel comfortable going around corners at a bit faster speed than what I usually do on uh my bike. Plus, it’s been raining all night, so the roads are quite slippy. But I feel like this is sticking the road quite well. [Music] [Music] [Music] I mean, if gravel’s your thing and you’re looking for a egravel bike, I wouldn’t look any further than this, to be honest. Absolute superb. I mean, this motor they’ve reconfigured and whatever they’ve done to it. I mean, it just feels such a natural ride and then it gives you that power when it thinks it you need it. It’s just absolute fantastic technology how they how they’ve managed to do it. And uh yeah, and you can come on these fantastic trails and you don’t have to worry about if you’re not that the fittest sort of cyclist in the world and uh you are worried about the big climbs you’ve got to come up. So you come down these fantastic gravel trails, then this does it for you. And it you’re still getting exercise and you’re still getting out. So you’re getting everything you need. basically and you’re seeing this absolute stunning scenery and coming out and having some fun. That’s what we want. Anyway, I’ll get further down here. There’s a little uh lake down here. So, I’ll take you to that. Fantastic little stop if you’re on your bike and you want a little sandwich stop or drink stop. So, I’ll take you there. Let’s go. Heat. [Music] [Applause] Heat. [Music] So, this is Graleale Town and uh yeah, I come here quite a lot. I used to bring my kids up here quite a lot to have a picnics and stuff and I highly recommend if you are graveling and you need a little stop, just come here. It’s nice and peaceful and uh yeah, just a nice little stop. So anyway, we’re going to carry on going down. We’ll sort of like go down to the visitor center cuz I’ve parked on Mua Top. So we’ll go down there and then we have to climb all the way back up up some nice trails. So let’s go. Let’s get back on the trail. So if you are interested in this route, I will uh in the description below, I will uh put uh my Garmin uh route and my Straa route if you are interested. Uh basically all my links are down there for me uh uh affiliate where you get discounts off Sorco and stuff like that, Zift, all that sort of stuff. So if you are interested in looking at that, that would help the channel out as well. And uh obviously Wheelbase who lent me the bike and a beer. Uh fantastic uh uh shop Wheelbase and uh Dom from a beer. Thanks very much for lending me this bike. So check out them as well cuz I’ll put wheelbase in the description who you know you can get these dinners from you can get whole range of different aeria bikes. So yeah if you’re looking for a beer wild or whatever sell them and that. So check them out. Fantastic website and fantastic shop if you ever up the lake district. Anyways let’s get down here. We should be descending quite a bit now. And then like I said, we get to the visitor center. So, I’ve just read a sign there saying steep descent. And uh it is looking a bit hair penny on the uh Garmin. So, try and take it a little bit easy here. Quite slippy. But like I said, these tires are doing absolutely fantastic. Caution. It’s giving me loads of caution. So, it must be really steep. I mean, is it steeper than a 25% now? What up there? Steep descent. That’s what we’ve come here for. We want descents. The handling of this is fantastic, by the way. stays where you want, stays in the line you want. Come around corners, no problem at speed. And uh yeah, it’s super super comfortable and all this bike. I mean, it really is. I mean, it’s perfect setup for gravel. Like you feel like you’re on solid the bike, you know? You feel you’re part of the bike, basically. Wow, this is fantastic. The uh I said this drops us down to the visitor center. I mean, so far I won’t say it’s a steep descent. It’s just a nice descent. So, I’m just at the visitor center. It’s closed at the minute cuz I’m really early. It’s only 8:00 in the morning and I’ve been going for about an hour now. So, we got some big climbs to do now. So, I’ll get you back on my chest and we’ll get up these climbs and we’ll get some more views. So, let’s go. So, if you want to know what time Grale Visit Center opens, it’s 10:00 a.m. in the morning. That’s I think every day, seven days a week. So yeah, if you’re out a bit early like me, have to bring your own coffee. But this bike, honestly, I’ve just come up for a bit of a climb there. I’m hardly out of breath and it just takes you, but it’s just phenomenal. Even on this loose surface where you think the power might not give you the grip, it certainly does. So, I’m going up this red and amber stuff on me, punching up to 10%. And uh this bike’s sort of like saying to me, “Is that all I’ve got it? Can I not give it anymore? It’s just flying up and it’s just uh feels like the power’s like, “Come on, give me some more. steep climbing. This is nothing for me. It’s just amazing. I am just flying along these trails up, down, whatever this is taking me. I’ve got to say I have popped it in boost all the way around. But why not? If you got 85 new meters of torque, why not use it? That’s all I’m saying. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Woo. Yeah. So, I’ve made it all the way back up to uh the top and there you can see the beautiful Connissson just down to my left and uh yeah, absolute stunning view. I’m thinking that’s probably most of the climbing done today and then uh drop back down the car. So, see how it goes. But like I said, this has been absolutely fantastic. I mean, this bike performed so well. Yeah, I’ve been in boost all the way around and uh yeah, I’ve done probably about 14 miles now. I’ve done just short of 2,000 ft of climbing. uh having it in boost constantly and all carrying this big 18 s block up all these steep uneven gravel steep climbs. I mean it’s a wonder of a bike. The motor is just superb. Absolutely fantastic. And uh it’s just perfect for these sort of trails. And uh I’d highly recommend if you are thinking about getting one of these bikes and you are a graveler, I’d get one. So I’ve had this in trail plus mode as well. There’s two uh modes on the YouTube app. Uh if you I’ll put the end of this video. I did a video just before this just going through the whole app, how it works and stuff. So, if you need any help with the app you’ve got on these bikes, obviously, just check the next video, the last video out at the end end of here. It just explains a bit about the two different uh trail modes you can have in the app. But yeah, right, nearly back. Oh, what a fantastic ride that was. So, let me get the Garmin and let me have a look. So, summary, uh, just under 2 hours, 1 hour 49, just over 15 miles, uh, climbing 1, and 980. So, just under 2,000 ft. Uh, and yeah, and I used probably about 2/3 of the battery in boost mode all the way around. Uh, carrying an 18 Storm, man. So, if you are thinking what sort of power you’re going to get out of it, uh, that’s what you’re going to get if you put it in full boost mode. I’m going to do a video where I’m going to like try and use all three uh e eco mode, trail mode, and boost mode. And uh obviously sometimes when it goes over the 15.5 mph, it it’ll cut out as well. And I’m going to ride until the battery dies just to see how many miles and how much feet are climbing I can actually do on it. So that’s another video I’ve got planned. And uh hopefully the next video will be hard not to pass, weather dependent. So yeah, thanks for watching. Hope you’ve enjoyed it and I’ll see you on the next

  1. Loving these videos and the time/effort you put into them. Great filming and scenery, the only downside is it’s making my credit card get itchy!
I need an all road bike that’s good everywhere as predominantly I ride the road to wherever I’m doing some gravel or light trails. This Denna looks perfect for that?
    Thanks for the content 😊
