Riding solo on my Honda Africa Twin motorcycle around the Mediterranean discovering The Roman Empire route , I am starting from Lisbon, Portugal riding through southern Europe to Turkey, the Middle East, and North Africa, then back to Portugal.

And it’s h what a what a day was yesterday. Uh it was it was I just got soaked. It was pouring down really hard. I was planning to uh to take the mountain roads and back roads and that plan, you know, went went south. So uh so anyway, I made it and I’m uh leaving uh the place I stayed at and uh yeah, getting ready to go. Actually, today I’m just going to I’m staying here for 3 4 days. Uh so I’m going to the uh get the bike serviced. I need oil change and uh a few things to check up on. And yeah, we’ll uh we’ll go there. Here we are. We need service. I come come for 1 hour. 1 hour. So today I I’m having a bit late start uh you know after uh 3 days 3 days of relaxing in the split. Uh the beaches were amazing and really uh really great. I also, you know, treated myself in a little bit of fancy place this time. Um but um now it’s the plan basically uh to go uh uh to go south to uh towards Montenegro. But I’m not going to ride a lot. probably probably I’m going to do close to 100 miles and uh there is a campground I want to uh check out for the Atlantic camp. Uh last time I was planning on doing that but uh what happened it rained and uh kind of that plan uh fell through. Also yesterday was super interesting. I went up um a castle uh where uh the Game of Thrones was filmed. Uh quite interesting uh beautiful climb up and and um what what I what I saw was was really interesting and uh what I read about it. Apparently this this castle was never been able to be um been able to be uh conquered ever and uh they were actually playing that game with Ronu in that time. So uh by the king and it was it was a real thing. It was very interesting to see. Uh yeah. So that that and then I got of course the the bike serviced and I’m glad to have uh fresh oil in it now and uh few other things I did but the views now so I’m taking the coastal road uh right now all the way down uh to that place all of it like this and the water here is so clear amazing how clear it is not sure and the climate is is today’s weather is amazing. It’s like absolutely insanely beautiful. Uh the coast here is so long. It comes all the way from the north all the way down south to the border. So yes, that’s uh the plan for the day. And after that uh what I’m going to do a detour uh basically uh thinking about crossing over to uh Bosnia. I saw this uh really beautiful mountain roads I want to check out and the campground today actually it is inland by a little lake. So I’m going to do this and then after Bosnia I’ll enter Montenegro from Bosnia and then after Montenegro will be Albania. Uh again the same thing I mentioned before Greece and probably although Athens is way out of my way um which my way was to go to Turkey and then alongside the Syrian border all the way to to Iraq. But I do have time. Uh my goal is to reach Iraq, Baghdad around October 2nd, 1st, 2, 3rd, like around the date. So I do have a lot of time. On average, I can do really do sightseeing and everything. You know, about 200 miles a day should be enough to get me there on that at that time. But there are areas you don’t really need to slow down. So what I’ll do, I’ll pick up the areas where are not interesting. I’ll just pick up freeways, motorways, and then drive fast and then get an area where I want to check out the mountains and kind of take get off get off that and then do uh do mountain roads. Yeah, that’s uh the plan. So, uh off we go. [Music] [Music] I mean, the beaches here are just so amazing. Well known like they’re known for the beaches. And as far as costwise, uh I thought it wasn’t I think Portugal is cheaper. I honestly have to say like even basic uh basic things that you need. Uh it seemed a little bit more expensive uh for for even like you know price of coffee and uh some groceries. Uh I felt it was a little bit more expensive. I think it’s just because where I was or I don’t know uh the area there, but it’s a small town and when you come here basically it’s it’s just all about beach. That’s all it is. Uh, but seeing Croatia, I mean, if you do want to come to Croatia, I really recommend taking road trip road trips within the country. It’s so much to see. Uh, when I came, I mentioned last time from the Slovenian border all the way down to Split is just unbelievable. The scenery and the roads and all of it. pretty relaxed lifestyle. I mean here also [Music] Oh, the roads here are just amazing. Unbelievable. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Absolutely gorgeous. [Music] [Music] Bill of Nick is 180. Uh I’m not going to go all the way there, of course. But now we’re doing a climb. Apparently, this whole coastal region is is very, if you’ve been to the um very similar to the Amafi coast in Italy, except the difference is that much quieter uh here. Not as many uh not as many cars. [Music] So, this basically uh the road’s name is uh it says it’s Highway 8. So, I’m driving on Highway uh or I guess just uh a road that is number eight in case you’re looking to drive this. Just find that and it’s easy. It’s a one way. Like it’s only one uh one road you see that goes out. So goes I mean goes south [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] I’m close to my destination and and the lake and where I’m looking to camp is is actually down there somewhere. Uh this is the Dubrnik uh Durnik I guess uh province or vicinity the vicinity of the city. Uh but it’s just so gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful. And then from here actually uh tomorrow uh I will enter Bosnia. Uh I can’t wait. I can’t wait for that. Oh my goodness. This is absolutely beautiful. [Music] Yeah, I’m close to my destination. I think that’s the sign. This is where I’m going. Uh I didn’t want to, you know, stay close to the uh beach. It’s just a crowded, you know, those beaches. I mean, even though the roads are but the beaches are the roads are not super crowded, but the beaches kind of kind of get crowded. the camps uh by the beach gets crowded. But here, I don’t know.
