I’m Jeff Scott. I’m a retired, award winning Architect, originally from the sunny SW coast of Florida, I live in Nice France now. Yes! I’m a lucky guy!
A graduate of Kent State University, in Ohio, I spent close to 40 years designing the world around us, both residential and commercial projects. At age 70, I said “enough” my wife, An and I and our little dog, Bella, sold, donated and gave away most of our stuff and retired to the south of France. That was back in early 2024.

Since we’ve moved here, life has been an adjustment, mostly good. But there have been some frustrating moments.

I’ve had to get creative and resourceful in order to make our lives, here in Nice, France, as comfortable as possible. Sometimes, that means coming up with creative ideas for finding storage, repurposing things, recycling things and having an eye for good trash out on the streets. You know what they say— “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. And today, in this video, my favorite phrase is “every centimeter counts”!

This tram basically has all the information you need about the Iron Man World Championship here in 2025. So, come along with us and we’ll give you a tour of the Iron Man events here in Nice. [Music] So, tonight is the night for the Iron Man competition here in Nice. And they got the main plaza here set up and they’re putting up fences and getting set for the race tomorrow morning. Traffic of course is knotted up because a lot of the streets are blocked off due to the race tomorrow. So traffic is getting frustrated here since it’s not moving and people are driving down the tram tracks to try and move along which hopefully the tram doesn’t come and run them over. So, here is the bike stand area the night before the race with everybody’s bicycle and their race number in the racks, ready for the race tomorrow morning. And here come the dogs keeping the bike safe. So down at the proomenade, it’s all prepped for the race. And as far as you can see, there’s bicycles and racks ready for the Iron Man competition tomorrow. It looks like there’s going to be thousands of contestants. It looks like everything’s registered by your entry number. So, here we are checking out where we’re going to come next year and park our bike for the Iron Man because in this location, you get your name and a special location for your bike. These are where the big boys take off for the race. So, at this point of the night, everything is in place and set for the race, which kicks off tomorrow morning. Are you okay? What pushed by the boys? So all the guys from all over Brazil, Germany, basically all around the world that come for this Iron Man competition. [Music] There’s one through 59 on each side. in the Pro Bay getting ready for the race tomorrow. So, as we walk along here tonight, this is the second area, this is more of the amateur section where more bikes are parked getting ready. So, the bikes are here on the bike rack. All ready for race day tomorrow. So, I’m here at the Iron Man Village in the park in Nice. And what they’ve got is a long banner for the Iron Man. It’s a swim 2.4 miles in the water. It’s a bike of 112 miles and it’s a run marathon length 26.2 mi. And at the end of that, you are tired and worn out. And as you walk up closer to the sign, what you end up seeing is the middle band is actually all of the people who have come to run the race with their number of their registration. And this is how many people have come here to compete in the Iron Man this weekend. [Music] Are you okay? Looks like a most of Nice has turned out to watch the race today. [Music] [Music] What we’ve got here is first group coming out of the water, grabbing their bag and getting ready to change into their outfit to bicycle. Everybody’s got a bag hung on a number and of course people are cheering him on. [Music] I’d be there. [Music] [Music] Go go go go right here and there. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] This is the transition zone. After they’ve come out of the swim, switch over to their bike gear. Grab your bike off the rack and off you go. [Music] [Music] One of the big accessories that everybody in the sport team seems to have is a bicycle tire pump. is in the house. We are Argentina also. Go. [Music] So these are these are the director USA. [Music] [Music] So all of the Iron Men have walked their bicycle to this point which is the start point of you can ride your bike and they take off from this point and ride their way down the bike route. [Music] Oh, that’s pretty much go. Nice one. [Music] Here we are at the transition. They’ve had to walk their bike to this point for the start of the bike race. And at this segment, once they pass through the arch, they mount up on their bike and pedal just as fast as they can. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Good luck, man. That’s awesome. Hey, at least he fixed it before he got out of the course. I got a flat next to the right people. Yeah. Yeah. Well done, man. Good luck. Hey, appreciate it. Oh my god, that’s awesome. I’m Yeah. [Music] [Music] It’s not beautiful. So, I was in the right place around the view. Yeah, I was there. One of your staff said to come here. I like how she keeps going back to see if she’s sleep unless he’s in the bed. I don’t know. He might have [Music] Do you know any other ones? Hi guys. Hey [Music] [Music] So, here is at the start of the bicycle race. They’re going down the proomenade. And then we’re here at the finish line. And at the moment, we don’t have anybody coming in yet to the finish line from the bicycle portion. At this point, we’re waiting at the completion of the bicycle ride where you’ll return your bike to your bike rack and then transition to the run part. And it appears as the run goes down the prominade also. And here’s the Iron Man winner from 1979. That was so long ago. They had mustaches and wore sunglasses and headbands. And they didn’t even realize they should get a t-shirt with a sponsor on it. But they’ve grown since then. So today the weather is a little bit overcast here in Nice, which is actually better weather to run a marathon, ride a bike, and swim in the ocean because the heat can be a problem for the athletes. You can see some some of our athletes are still in the water making their way valiantly back to the beach to continue on their competition. This is a poster of Dave Scott. That’s my brother from another mother. In 1980, 82, 83, 84, 856, and 87. He was running the Iron Man. So because the raceourse runs along the prominade, they’ve had to build a pedestrian bridge to get people up and over to the other side of the bridge. [Music] Oh, look how nice this is. They’re making a poster for me since my name is Jeffrey. So, as the crowds are starting to gather, of course, the line to get over and back getting longer and longer. So the bike course goes out into the hills around Nice. And right now they’re on the uphill run which is requires a lot of energy. So, here we’re watching the bike race on a jumbotron. [Music] [Applause] And the bike race is going to take hours [Music] to finish. [Music] There is something left. Looks like this is the finish line for the Iron Man race. They’re laying down the blue carpet to welcome them back. So, here is all the Iron Man outfits, swimsuits, goggles, all the stuff to make you go fast and feel like an Iron Man. We got t-shirts, swim shorts, water bottles, sweatshirts. Everything you need to win a race. Got all kinds of cool hats and water bottles. Used to be 1690. Race day special marked on down to €10 for a water bottle. here for all those sore muscles that you have when you’re an athlete. Again, we got a lot of cool hats here. [Music] carry-on bags, backpacks, even have Iron Man flip floppies. I guess if it’s can put Iron Man name on it, it can be an Iron Man memorabilia. So, we’re back here in the afternoon at the end of the marathon run. Of course, we’ve got a number of bicycle riders still coming back from their runs, but at this point, we should see the leader of the marathon run coming across the finish line to win this Niece Iron Man competition. [Music] I’ll tell you your 2021 Iron Man world champion That’s right. Strawberry, you are an Iron Man world champion. 1 2 3 [Applause] [Music] Hey, hey, Iron Man World Champion. What a day. I will stand by to complete the volume of the 2025 home world championship meet a historic day. A recordb breaking day. Two men on the mission all over the line. We’re waiting for number three. Wait a minute. [Music] And here we are. Your final Norwegian. They dreamt of it. They talked of it. They wrote this script. And now they have lived it. It is not a dream. It is a reality. Three Norwegians on the podium. This is your third place Olympic gold. The semi.3 world champion, Iron Man world champion, third in 2025, Christian Lunath [Music] [Applause] to welcome and congratulate Christian. There’s good stuff as well. The three are united, train together, coach each other. Quick words, Christian, just quickly tell me about your day. You did an amazing job. You said it was brutal, but let’s hear it. Team Norway. Hey, Nor. [Music] The Iron Man World Champion second place third place. [Music] So now the winner has crossed the finish line and here are guys on bicycles just back from their 112 mile bike run. [Music] and they’re looking forward to a 26mile run in order to finish their Iron Man race. The Vikings are victorious in Nice. The Vikings 1 2 3 [Applause] stand by West. [Music] We have two world champions on the finish line and a recently crowned world champion just a few minutes ago. And we got another two world champions out there. We’ve got a helicopter above Nice today. Filming the end of the Iron Man race doing live coverage for TV. So, thanks for watching my video about the Iron Man competition in Nice. In Nice, the fellow that won was a Norwegian and he ran the course in 7 hours and 50 minutes. He swam, he biked, and ran to finish the race to the crowds going wild and tinsel being shot off at the final. Now, that’s one story of the fastest man in the Iron Man. But the story from the Iron Man that captured my attention was not the fastest man, but the most persistent man. The most persistent man was a Japanese guy who at 16 hours and 55 minutes crossed the finish line in the Iron Man competition in Nice. Now, that meant that he was finishing the race at 100 a.m. in the morning after 17 hours of grueling, exhausting race. Now, I myself, as a young 40year-old, thought that a triathlon, how hard could it be? So in Florida, I entered a mini triathlon in Naples, Florida, and was amazed at how underprepared I was for such a race. So to me, a fellow from Japan who gets on an airplane, packs a bicycle, trains, comes to Nice, France, and for 17 hours does not give up. and finishes the race was absolutely amazing. And the other part that surprised me was he was in the 60-year-old male uh group of men in the competition. So, this was a guy that was not a spring chicken, but he never gave up. So for both winners, for both the fastest man and the most persistent man, for me it was a great Iron Man competition. Thanks for watching. Give me a thumbs up if you like the content and we’ll see you in another video. Subscribe and join my channel. Help me grow. Thanks a lot. Bye now. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music]
