All ready for London to Brighton tomorrow. Just finished up last bit of bike prep. Got the number on ready. Tires all good. Chains all good. Unfortunately going to have to take a bag. Didn’t plan on taking a bag with me to this one, but the weather is terrible and it’s going to be raining most of the day, windy and everything. So, I’ve got some dry clothes in there in a dry bag. Um, but yeah, originally I didn’t plan on taking anything. was just going to get the train up there, ride it, and then um get the coach back to London, then just jump on the train straight back home. But yeah, I’m going to have to take a spare pair of clothes cuz I don’t want to be sitting around soaking wet all day. So, unfortunately, I’m going to have to ride with a bag. I mean, it’s not ideal, but if that’s what it takes to be dry at the end of it and be warm and comfy, then that’s what we’ll be doing. So, yeah, take it. And uh hopefully the weather holds out for us, but it’s not looking likely. So, also for fueling and what we’ll be taking with us, I’ll take two scoops of this Tailwind electrolyte and carb powder into a bottle of water. Then I’ll be running the second smaller bottle just with water. Take two Hilltop honey gels um with us. And I’ve got these to try from one good thing. These are oat bars, but they come already wrapped in like a beeswax, so there’s no like there’s no wrapper or anything. think you can just eat the whole thing, which I thought was a really good idea. Um, can just chuck a couple of them in the jersey pocket and eat them on the way round. So hopefully they’re good and yeah, they’re going to be ideal. Just made it to Liverpool Street. So going to ride from here to the start at Clappen Common. Should take us, what is it to the start? Like 20 minutes. 20 minutes. Yeah, a nice 20 minutes. So we’ll be there about 20 minutes before we start. So all good. Best thing about riding to the start, getting some views of London early in the morning. It’s completely dead as well, so nothing like hosing it around London first thing. Proper tourists. We go. Made it to the start. Turns out to be a nice day in the end. So hopefully we ain’t going to need the waterproofs, but always good to have them in case. First try on the oat bar. Not bad. First bite’s a bit weird. getting used to like the um waxy wrapper, but after that all good. So yeah, going to be good. Keep going forward. Keep going forward. [Music] Have fun, guys. Thank you. Lost the light already. See that? Yeah. There we go. We’re off. London to Brighton 2025. Let’s go. [Music] Only chaos thing so far is all the lights. So, a lot of stops start right at the beginning. 10 miles in now. Just starting to come out of London. It was actually pretty chaos the amount of people, cars, traffic lights stopping, non-stop. But yeah, out now into some more like country lanes. So, should be a lot nicer to ride from here. But I think I’d definitely like to go for a ride around London like on another day just cuz it’ll be chaos. I think it’ll be pretty fun. Heat. Heat. 15 milesi in. Whoever says this is flat is a liar. There’s uh yeah, some pretty uh brutal hills there, but also to go with it, some nice downs just come flying off a down. So, makes up for it. Downs are a nice bit of recovery, so all good. This is what I mean. Hills on hills at the moment. Not flat at all. We just gone past the first checkpoint. Not going to stop there. But next one’s in about 12 mi from where we are now. So, we’ll probably stop there. Get a drink and maybe a bite to eat. We’re in no rush today. Just getting it about no time. Just enjoying it. Let me still be on his way. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. We’re at about 30 mi in now. Checkpoint 2. Just had the bike looked at. Got all the gears sorted. So, I couldn’t do it myself. It took the guy about 2 seconds. Little feed up at the checkpoint. And then we’ll be back to it for the last what we got about 25 miles left. So not good on hills when there’s loads of cars around. There’s so many people. Hard to stop. It just blocks everything. Hard to stop on the hill. Can’t Oh, mate. It’s not good. Best thing about that stop was definitely getting these gears sorted out. I was missing two of the bottom gears. So now I can actually shift into all my gears. Is making hills so much easier, so much nicer. And uh it’s definitely going to help towards that big hill at the end, I tell you. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. A lot of this going on. A lot of stuck behind cars. Just come into South Downs National Park about 45 miles in. The hills ain’t stopping. The hills are a joke. Definitely haven’t trained for this. Uh so yeah, lacking quite a lot. So if you’re thinking about doing this, get your hill training in cuz there’s actually loads. On the plus side, we only got about 10 miles left now, but I know we’ve got the biggest hill coming up at the end. Well, so everyone keeps saying. So yeah, that’ll be fun. Wind. I think we found the hill. If you can see it. Probably can’t even see it in the camera. It’s looking big. So I’m hoping it’s not that. But I feel like there’s no other option, but it’s got to be that. It’s not [ __ ] here. It’s a mountain. Let’s get it. There we go. Hopefully that’s a better view. It’s got to be it. Oh, I mean this climb. expect some serious burning in the legs. Goal is to try and make it to the top without walking. Not a clue how far it is. Going to keep it in the lowest gear possible. Just keep moving. Feel like I’m going on forever. [ __ ] unreal. [ __ ] me. Top is here. Let’s go. Let’s go, guys. Oh, that was hard. Here we go. Some views from the top of the hill. That was tough. I’m glad I managed to ride all the way up that, especially so close to the end. And now we’re just hitting some downhill flat all the way into Brighton. So, we’re nearly there now. Let’s go. Heat. Heat. Oh [ __ ] Oh [ __ ] [Music] There we Oh, right. And see front on the home straight. [Music] Good luck from the ready peace hospital team. He’s raising money for them today. You’ve got this, they said. Well done, guys. Big happy faces again. Mental Health UK coming through here Charity UK also. Great to see you guys as always. There we have it. London to Brighton finished. Sausage roll at the end with a goodie bag. Done. Just in the queue now, waiting for the bikes to go back. very long queue.
