Some months ago I got an e bike. Max speed of 25kmh. It is confortable, heavy and bulky. I really like it but I would love to have something that would be the opposite for the times it is uncomfortable.
For example, I have the option to take the e bike with me for my commute to university. 20km each way. Generally on the way to I bike to the train station and then do the last km, doing only around 5 km. And on the way back I avoid rush hour by riding the way back.
But I would love to have something that would be more confortable to take with me beeing less heavy and smaller. Also it beeing "acoustic" /s would be nice so that I can feel speed and exercise on the way back and feel quick.
I have the option to restore my dad's 27 year old bike (the one in the picture). It is smaller old, etc. The thing is that it might take an effort to put it in condition. And the customization would be limited (the handlebar looks like hard to change for a drop down) and the geometry isn't looking like for speed (I think) also I think it is like 15kg which isnt exactly light. Also I would need to fix some things…
On the other hand I have some money well saved and I could buy a new road bike. Ive seen one that is not much smaller but yet more compact than my e bike, its geometry is much more sporty and has a decent price for my country.
What should I do? Is a more road like bike uncomfortable? My commute is 60% aislated cyclelane and the rest is in some car shared roads. Also 0 hills.
I also want to start training and cycling outside of my commutes…
