Hi all, I just got my first Brompton (P line electric 4 speed) at a great price (Brompton Junction closing sale) and I love it. I’ve only had it a couple of weeks and so far have used it about 3 times to commute to work (NYC). I noticed today that the paint has come off the rack, I don’t know how this happened, I haven’t scraped it anywhere. Also, the brake wire is too long and I can hear it scraping the floor when rolling in folded mode.
My question: should the paint come off so easily? Is this something I can claim on warranty? If not, what should I put on it to protect against rust? Any advice is much appreciated.

The rack is made of aluminum and will not rust.
For what they charge you would expect the paint to be bulletproof, but it scratches pretty easily. Ask me about the [wheels](https://www.reddit.com/r/Brompton/comments/1mbvf8b/advance_roller_wheels_and_orings_1st_attempt/)…
You could get touch up paint, or use electrical tape or protection stickers/helicopter tape to put over it. I just make my peace with it. My bike is a tool, not a museum piece.
As to the brake wire, just bend it so it doesn’t stick over the rack.
As to the rack – as the rack is very close to the ground while the bike is folded the paint is scratched easily when rolling folded bike on uneven surfaces like entering or leaving an elevator or going through the doors. To prevent that you would have to carry the bike over any bump or hole while rolling or wrap the rack in a plastic tubes.
