The final stage of Lavalta and 2025’s Las Tour. UAE’s Jay Vine claiming the King of the Mountains jersey. But Visma celebrating the big prize. Yonas Vinegar’s coronation as Lava champion on the procession to Madrid. The one man who knows that winning sprint feeling in the Spanish capital is IA Vivani. The Italian will look to overcome Yasper Philipsson if he’s to rediscover that sensation. Madrid is one of the best win of my career. I mean special place. The ceremony after a grand tour is always a special feeling. So as I say at the start of this wela, the first one and the last one was a special one for the sprinter because the first one it was a red jersey in touring in Italy and this one for any other reason. After a grueling three weeks, the end in sight and the hot favorite for the stage is Philipsson. The Belgian aiming for a fourth stage success. Win or lose, the 27year-old wants to celebrate after his only previous Welta finished 5 years ago. [Music] We already did finish one time Valta in 2020 co edition Madrid and then we weren’t able to uh go to a restaurant or whatever. So um yeah will be nice to have a good dinner with the team together this this evening. It’s not a foregone conclusion as Philipsson’s teammate Hayden Groves can attest. The Australian won from the breakaway in 2023’s finale. Food for thought for those in the Pelaton. With the way the circuit is, it it can be really difficult in the Pelaton to stay up there. And um yeah, sometimes it can work out for a couple of guys up the road. I think a few years ago we saw um a breakaway nearly stay away with two guys. So yeah, we never know. [Music] away from the metropole of Madrid. The race starting in the town of Alalpardo as they travel south before entering the urban jungle of Madrid. A virtually flat 111.6 km route, meaning the likeliest outcome is the fast men being let loose. Lava’s final stage is traditionally a slow procession into Madrid. Primarily a celebration of the additions protagonists and jersey winners. A photo shoot, a sip of champagne with an end of term atmosphere before heading on vacation. For the occasion, Vizma Lisa Bike wore special black jerseys with red accents, honoring overall winner Yonas Vinegor, a first title won in Madrid. At 82 km from the finish, the Pelaton finally entering the Spanish capital, hosting Lavta’s finale for the 80th time. The pace began to rise as they approached the first of nine scheduled circuits before a decisive 10th. The pace picked up as the Pelaton prepared to get down to business, heading towards a first crossing of the finish line that ultimately would not happen. Due to demonstrations in the streets of Madrid, the race cut short. The riders made clear any issues they’d refused to continue. That’s what transpired. The 2025 Welta ended here. Jonas Fangard is not going to ride into Madrid. Uh he is shaking hands with his team and saying thank you very much. Congratulations. Vigor’s first Welter victory and his first red jersey. Shameda and Tom Pitcock completing the top three. Mass Person secured his second Welter green jersey. Jay Vine successfully defended his polka dot jersey from last year and Matthew Ricatello crowned the best young rider of this edition. Lava back in 2026 as we await an exciting Grandpa from Monaco. Spain = Third world country.

A beautiful race spoiled by selfish agitators and pathetic security. Those in tha protest should all be in jail.
Viva Palestina Libre
🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸❤❤❤
Good begging and terrible ending!
Hope everyone should respect each riders, how they prepare for this three weeks!
Idiots waving flags of terrorist organizations have no business lining the roads of race courses. They are not cycling fans, but only want their dark, hateful colors to be caught by the cameras. Every rider should give these fools a full finger as he goes by. As for occasionally blocking the course — this is the way they expect to win friends?! The UCI should screen for such troublemakers and unwelcome guests.
I think Spain should be deprived of the national tour. There are enough other European countries capable of hosting a three-week tour and guaranteeing the safety of all participants. Spain apparently can't or won't do that. !
Yes, protest, but do it so that the world will follow. This was just simply disgusting.
Scummy antifa terrorist supporters ruined everything again. Lock them all up
ANY pro-Palestinian protester in ANY country who disrupts lives of either professionals at work or of ordinary people should be arrested, put on a plane, have a parachute strapped to their back, and thrown out of the plane while it is in the Gaza air space. I they care so damn much about their precious Palestine, then let them show it – throw them to the front line and let's see if they remain as dedicated to their 'big cause' as they claim to be.
This has gone far enough. Start dealing with these radicals with radical measures.
These people could've protested at any other time, but they chose to do so at a time to cause maximum disruption. Groups like JSO in the UK had the same approach for over a year or so, and they achieved nothing other than messing up people's lives, wasting huge amounts of public money spent on policing them, and making most of the general public loathe them. These protestors have done the same, but at least in the UK at sporting events the protestors were swiftly dealt with and not allowed to cause more than minimal disruption. Sadly here, the Vuelta organisers & the Spanish authorities have given these public nuisances carte blanche to do whatever they please. It's a shameful moment for this event and for cycling generally.
Wow everything so happy and in the dark !
This happened at least in part because the Prime Minister Sanchez stepped out of his lane with his comments about kicking Israel Premier Tech out of the race. Way to go, meathead. I bet the Vuelta administration is thrilled with you. Will be interesting to see the quality of the field next year.
I wonder what percentage of the protestors think Israel Premier Tech is sponsored by the Israeli government. 50%? 80% or more? Meanwhile UAE which has a much more important and competitive team IS a government sponsored team. Maybe the protestors should read up on human rights, women's rights, freedom of speech, prison conditions, and the like in the UAE in order to jell up a campaign for their protest next year, just in case IPT doesn't come.
Loved the positions of de riders to the fair demonstrations. Next year the organizators know what to do. So easy to solve that, mather of justice.
Congratulations João Almeida, you only got second place.
Thank you people of Spain for your incredible support for Palestine. Stop Genocide. 🇵🇸🇵🇹
Shame on everyone in Spain, that couldn´t provide any kind of secure for fans or the riders. I hope this was the very last time, Spain would have a bike race. Shame on u! TDF starting in Spain next year. I don+t think so. It obvious that Spain isn´t capable to provide security for fans and riders. Take it from them, so this generation of crazy lefties will be hated for ever.
Qué vergüenza!
Hopefully no I-PT in next years edition, so we can watch the race!
Send them home
For sure next year they will include giro and Tour de France in their protest calendar.so disappointing ..most of the people in the world doesn’t care about their country .. and why in Europe ..why they don’t asked for help to your same Muslim countries.
Spain is cooked !
Arrests and fines at the start of the Vuelta would have ended the protests, regrettable!
Did not like the way that you ignored Tom Pidcock's hard won third place. He barely got a mention and no pictures
Those protesting idiots..
well they(at least some, obv not everyone) support terrorist organisation that has caused so many deaths, expecting those people the have a brain and logic to understand this makes people that even support their cause to be mad at them is kinda stupid in its own way….
It's a shame it finished that way.
El papelón del siglo. La política arruinando la fiesta y la paz. No lo entenderias.
Such a shame, they would have deserved a celebration
A finish at the circuito Jarama was not possible? They started closeby though, would've been a safe option
