Getting out for an early Sunday ride on my rough, ready and trusty Raliegh bike. This week I head out to find the Packet House in Wosley, Salford, Greater Manchester, following this historic Bridgewater Canal.
The Packet House in Worsley is a Grade II listed historic building constructed in 1760 for the Duke of Bridgewater, located beside the Bridgewater Canal. It originally served as the ticket office for passenger services on the canal, which began in 1769, enabling daily boat travel between Worsley and Manchester. Its distinctive half-timbered appearance was added around 1850 by the 1st Earl of Ellesmere, and it remains a prominent architectural feature in the heritage centre of Worsley Village.
