We cycled across the Severn Bridge to catch the Tour of Britain cycle race as it skirted Chepstow. This was Geraint Thomas’s last race as a professional cyclist and it was great to be able to cheer him on… albeit very briefly #cycling #cyclerace #tourofbritain #cyclinglife #severnbridge #chepstow
So, we’re on an adventure today. We’re going to go and watch the tour of Britain, stage five. Can’t remember where it’s from and where it’s to, but it’s coming near Chepto. So, we’ve strapped the bikes to the back of the car and we’re going to go over the bridge, hoping that the cycle path isn’t closed today. This is us on the middle of the seven bridge at the second seven crossing in the background. Right. So, here we are uh coming down that road there down here. We’re right on the edge of Chapstone up to that junction down to a roundabout over there and then up that road there. So this is Gang Thomas’s final race and we’re in Wales. We’re finishing in Wales. Apparently he’s having a massive party in Cardiff when the race finishes. And there’s some kids just along the way there uh with Welsh flags and Welsh bandanas with G masks, Gant Thomas masks on, which is really sweet. So this woman’s uh handing out masks and flags. So I just sent the wife to go and get one. Yes, we got our Welsh flag. Brilliant. Julia, does this do anything for you? It’s quite realistic, isn’t it? [Music] That was a bit of a wild card cuz uh they’d stopped all the traffic. Uh but then an emergency vehicle needed to get through. An ambulance needed to get through which they’ve managed. Thankfully, the race hadn’t arrived. The caston UAE. Here they come. Here they come. Oh, wow. Go on, boys. Go on, Remco. Go on, G. Woohoo. [Applause] And that was that. What do you think? Wow. The tag team work work of the police that they come and block off a bit and then they move on and another one takes over and another one takes over. It’s incredible, isn’t it? Amazing. So, that’s it. The party’s breaking up. Everybody’s going home now. Really nice feeling. Everybody very friendly. Everybody talking to each other. Lots of Welsh flags. Carrying Thomas masks. Very well organized. Well done all.
