Picked up an Elops 500 last week for £75 off eBay. Thought I’d just ride it as‑is… but here we are.
I set myself a rule: spend less on upgrades than I did on the bike (or at least keep it under £100). I’m already side‑eyeing that budget like it’s a challenge.
Upgrades so far:
• Bars: Cinelli Peppers — £24
• Grips: DMR Death Grip — £0 off my MTB
• Mudguards: SKS Race Pro (I think?) – £25
Next on the hit list (open to recommendations):
• Pedals: DMR V6 or Shimano PD‑EF202? Open to other ideas
• Straps: Cinelli Mike Giant — unless someone’s got a better shout
• Saddle: stock one’s fine for now, but I’m open to something comfier that won’t ruin the look
Not touching the drivetrain or BB — if I really catch the bug, I’ll treat myself to a Dolan Pre Cursa later.
But overall I love it and feel like I’ve found the best bike I could have.
