now when you think of cross-country and especially racing go in Italy we’ll often get caught up in a world of super light bites carbon Park with costs running into the absolute thousands but they don’t need too much now bikes can easily cost over ten thousand pounds yikes but some cases you can get them for a lot cheaper take this for example my secondhand Scott scale built for just under 550 pounds so when it comes to XC does money really matter

Much faster on my Anthem than I am on my Trance X. Bike matters.
I have a Scott RC Spark I use on my XC trails and love the bike ($6000). However, I build a Salsa Timberjack Alu single-speed hardtail with for way less and I must say I like riding the hardtail more… I have converted the Salsa to a single-speed (34×17) and it is way more fun to ride now!
If you're putting out 400w the bike doesn't matter.
Hardtails are seriously fun and hard to kill kits.
I got a free specialized XC bike for free but we looked up how much it cost it and it was over 2k
Depends how much spandex you wear
I got a full carbon frame whole bike for like 350$

Bikes have been really overpriced last 4 year, supply and demand I guess. I got a Specialized Chisel Comp for 1400 euro, whereas it costed 2400 list price ๐ฎ, way too much for what's offered. It's worth shopping around and waiting for run-out bikes to become available.

Hardtail for the win with decent alloy wheels..ive done full suss..thehre quicker on rocky downhill but pain in the ass after every winter, fixing umpteen bearings and presfit bbs bearings
