Welcome to my 2-day adventure glamping and cycling in Belgium with the incredible Flanderian Hotel as my base. In June 2025, I traveled to the Netherlands and from there boarded a train and reach Harasp again, a small city in the Flanders region of Belgium. Then a cyclist from Australia came to pick me up at the train station and we drove to the Plarian Hotel. It is fun sitting in the passenger seat of a 1979 PJ job Michelin teen car. Upon reaching the hotel, I saw a group of riders all geared up to hit the road. More than 1 lakh 50,000 international cycling tourists visit the tour of Flanders every year and the Flanderian Hotel is specially designed for cyclists. Hotel manager Andras welcomed me at the venue with a swift check-in and we became friends in no time. I entered my glamping tent and was thrilled for this outdoor adventure. This incredible spacious tent is perfectly blending rustic charm with all the modern comforts. Think comfortable beds, private space, and the peaceful sounds of the Belgian countryside. It was the perfect retreat after a long journey. After settling in, I went on a self-guided tour to explore the property. I noticed that the hotel looks exactly the way it is shown on their website with no deviation from what it claims to be. It has all the curated amenities that a cyclist needs for a flawless cycling holiday and focus on training. Some of the facilities I would like to highlight are an impressive collection of classic bikes, including the ones used by former professional riders, which forms a spread out museum across different sections of the hotel. A commercial art gallery, techno gym, fitness center, a cozy clubhouse where guests can watch cycling events on big screen while enjoying delicious and healthy meals, cold and hot drinks, the famous Belgian chocolate, and a collection of Belgian beers. Hello. You’re going to be on camera. Yeah. Do you want her to? The hotel offers essential services such as a fully equipped bike workshop, secured bike storage, free bike wash, selfservice washing machine, and a dryer. Visitors can rent a bike from a collection of good quality road and gravel bikes, and can even hire classic and expro team bikes if they desire. One of the biggest USPS I saw at the hotel is the 1979 Pujo Michelin team car which is used to shuttle its international guests. Besides, there are multi-seater vans to transport large group of riders along with their bike bags and cases. And I joined the Premier League of people who got a chance to go for a drive in the team car. For people who wish to take back home memories in a physical form, the Flanderian Hotel has a limited collection of merchandise in the retail area. I picked up a jersey, cap, and socks. Jamie Anderson, the co-founder of Flanderian Hotel, is a master cyclist and has taken special care in designing this hotel. The hotel was built in 1902 and continues to charm all its visitors. I took a walk in the garden area and sat in front of a van. Next it is time to get my bike ready. The bike was fitted as per my needs with a raised handlebar. So like all that or more or Yeah, you can raise it to the maximum. The maximum. Yeah. Jamie arranged a van Nicholas titanium road bike for me. I went for a short detour to get a feeling of the surrounding area. After returning back to the hotel, I met Prna Ran Kumar from Bangalore, India. The Flanderian Hotel offers a scholarship program for young cyclists. When selected, the riders get a chance to stay and train in the Flanders region. Before the visit, Jamie told me that the Fllanders region is a cycling hotspot and they frequently host professional cycling teams as part of the national cycling development programs. Applications are invited every year for a scholarship program for young athletes from the Commonwealth. Preankumar is one of the sponsored athletes to stay and train at the Flanderian Hotel under their scholarship program. Pina has been into endurance sports since a young age and competes at national and international triathlons consistently pushing her limits. The Flanderian scholarship is a great opportunity to conquer challenging roots and cobblestone paths. The postride conversations add to the knowledge and motivates the riders to perform better. Reina and I teamed up and planned an early morning ride next day. After a meal, I returned to my tent to relax and rest. I woke up early in the morning to record a time-lapse video of the sunrise. I could feel the wet grass on my feet and the dew drops had changed the color of the wooden table. I placed the tripod on it and went back to the tent for another round of naps. The result is incredible and I’m happy with the shot I have recorded. The sun was beaming and the skies were clear. A perfect day for cycling. With full excitement, Raina and I hit the road on our titanium road bikes. She knew the way and I followed. Having stayed here for a few weeks before I arrived, she got accustomed to the area and guided me to a forest route. We passed through typical red brick houses and farms, admiring the raw and natural beauty of the surroundings. With a pit stop for photos, Prina talked about the Flanderian challenge, which is popular with many cycling tourists. The Flanderian Hotel has partnered with the cycling in Flanders. The tourism Flanders team focused specially on cycle tourism to create a whole series of rides routes that can be downloaded from cyclingplanders.com or the hotel’s website. Guests can even follow the Plandorian challenge which is specially designed 3-day experience that covers all the major clims and cobble sections of their own. Upon completion, they get their names engraved on a cobblestone at the tour of Flanders Museum in Ud and a special finisher jersey from the hotel. I regret to miss this opportunity, I replied. Due to my limited stay of only 2 days here, this challenge is now a future goal and goes in my bucket list. I told Praner. Our journey continued with conversations, chasing shadows, soaking in the sun, enjoying every pedal stroke and car-free roads. These views are stunning and it is impressive that these are the same trails used by the professional riders for training. I truly miss such calm, peaceful and safe spaces in Mumbai and I’m sure people from India watching this video would relate to my feelings. Actual freedom means the ability to move freely in a clean, green and silent environment. Technically speaking, this is exactly what ecoourism symbolizes. Cycling in Flanders is truly a dream come true. I never imagined that an average cycling blogger with no significant reach would get an invitation to stay here and ride the pro cycling trails. I am grateful to Jamie Anderson and his team for this superb opportunity. Emotions aside, we pedled into the forest, captured some moments in the camera, and returned back to the hotel for breakfast. With a gentle smile on my face, although I was internally super satisfied and happy, I expressed my gratitude to Pina for her companionship. She is an amazing rider and has a great career ahead. And I must confess that I requested her to write slow and match my speed so that I can film simultaneously and she honored it. Next morning I went for a solo ride as Pina was leading another group. I didn’t have a plan and randomly explored nearby roots. With no obligations, I had the flexibility to experiment and film myself with the Insta 360 X5 action camera. The Insta 360 X5 is a powerful 360° action camera that captures stunning 4K and 8K videos and 72 megapixel photos. My 2-day cycling pilgrimage concluded back at the Planderian Hotel. The camarader is infectious, sharing stories with fellow riders, united by a love for the sport. It’s more than just a place to sleep. It’s a community, a passion project, and a cyclist dream destination. Glamping and cycling in Belgium with the Plarian Hotel is an unforgettable experience. It combines the thrill of conquering legendary roots with the unique luxury of nature immerse clamping. If you are a cyclist looking for an adventure that offers both challenge and comfort, this is it. This trip was a perfect combination of my passions.
