At Crafted Cycles, we believe there’s a better way to buy a bike. The traditional model—limited sizing and fixed components from major brands—just doesn’t cut it. That’s why we launched our custom build workshop. You choose every part, from frame to components, so your bike fits perfectly and performs exactly how you want it to from day one. No more wasting money on upgrades or compromising on fit—just a bike that’s built for you.

Welcome to another video from Crafty Cycles and today I’m joined by a very special guest none other than Morgan Newberry who is a C5 parasyclist. She’s just come back from competing in the UCI Parasycling World Championships where she has just got two world medals. Welcome. And today we’re going to be talking about your bike, a little bit about you, a little bit about how you adapt to riding on bikes being a parasyclist. [Music] So Morgan came to us with a few specific needs that she wanted a bike built up for her racing, her training, something that’s going to work for her and her body. Um, do you want to show us through your bike and all the little features that make it great for you? Yeah, of course. So, um, obviously I ride with one hand, so my biggest things are sorting out the brakes and the gears to make it safe and ridable. So, I have a brake splitter here that is an outbreaker that basically puts both the brakes front and rear in the right shifter because obviously I can’t use the left shifter. Um, and then the other really cool thing that’s new to 12speed is that I always had an issue with the front mech, I could never change it. So, I used to have like a bar and shifter that was really old school, but now Shimano have let you put this upgrade on where you can see down here. Um, I can just change the front mech there. Um, and then I’m just using the normal gears in the normal place. So, it means that basically my bike, apart from the brake splitter, is completely normal. Um, which is so nice cuz I used to have tons of different things that I’d set up on the bike. Um, and now it’s just this brake splitter that’s fine and this one button. So, the bike we built up for you is a Canidel Super 6 Evo. It’s a size 48, so quite a compact bike. Um, we find a lot of female riders actually just need a smaller bike than they used to have. Um, other few features that we fitted for you was the Pro PLT Erggo handlebar. So, this is a super short reach handlebar. Just let you get a little bit of a better position, feel a bit more powerful on the front end. Um, it’s got a slightly arrow profile as well, so when you’re you’re hunkering down in the breakaway, you’re not losing any watts there. Um, paired with your standard 1134 cassette and a 5236 chain ring, you got all the gears for riding around Darbisha. It’s true. The other thing that’s really important for when I’m riding that’s actually fairly new is this prosthetic from Koala. Um, which basically just lets me get on the bike and gives me leverage that I never used to have. Um, and it, you know, I can get out the saddle. Um, and it’s just completely safe. So, I can ride around on these the steep hills that we have in Darash with no stress. Um, yeah, it’s just really cool. Like it has like wrist rotation. I can get arrow on it. Um, yeah, it’s been an absolute game changer for me. And from a bike fit perspective, the new prosthetic actually means both your arms are more or less the same length. Before you had this prosthetic, we had to move the shifter up. We had to put pads and foam bits around on the bar just to make up that distance. Um, but yeah, now we’re essentially running a pretty standard cockpit, which not only looks cool, is a lot easier as a mechanic to set up for you. Yeah. No, it’s been mega. Cool. So, thank you for bringing your bike in, talking to us, and yeah, congratulations on your bronze and silver medal at the at the World Championships. Um, I think we just got to got to work on your breakaway techniques a little bit, and then you’ll maybe getting that gold medal soon. Thank you for having
