Two folding bikes. Two days. One epic ride.
Dan and Jon take their Brompton G-Lines from London to Oxford, with an overnight hotel stop in between. From the city streets to country lanes, this ride tested the limits of both the bikes and the riders.

How’s it going? Good. We’re in central London and we are filming a bike packing. Well, I say bike packing, middle class, middle-aged adventure. Middle distance. Middle distance adventure from London to Oxford. We’re currently near Oxford Street, but we’re going to the real Oxford. Uh 30 mi today, 30 mi tomorrow roughly. Nice hotel stay in the middle. So should be nice. Look at that. The London Eye. We are now in Hyde Park. Uh slowly making our way out of London. obviously takes a lot longer because we’re filming, but it’s nice. The weather’s good and it’s going to get a bit quieter now hopefully now we’ve done the main tourist attractions. So, yeah, all good. All good. So, we just climbed all the way up off the canal up this path because there was promise of a brewery, an artisan brewery. It’s only open Saturdays and Sundays and we’re currently on a Wednesday. Um, but there’s some lovely drone footage over the city and we’re now going back down the hill back to the canal. A grave error, but we made the most of it. Yeah, so hot. A shower as well. Woo. Where are we, John? Well, on our London to Paris video, we were really excited about crossing the M25, and it turned out to be a really rubbish tunnel. But here we are. We found ourselves a bridge over it, and it’s really noisy and really hot. So, uh, I think we should probably go to the hotel. Let’s go. Good morning. We are back on the road. So, we had a lovely stay in a hotel last night, which is a nice departure from our usual tenting. So, feel well rested. Plan today is to head through the heart of the Chiltons and over to Oxford on the train back. It’s so hot. It’s very hot. It is already 23° and it is 9:00. So, she’s going to be a scorcher. Let’s go. Let’s do it. So, interesting development. We uh you would have just seen a lovely drone shot of us descending down a hill. What you couldn’t see is that we’d left the camera and the gimbal in a layby 500 meters up that hill. We then proceeded to ride around 3 miles over this hill only to realize that we’d left it. So, we’ve had to ride all the way back and now we’ve got it back. Oops. Silly voice. Whoopsie. You got a quick update for us there? Yes, I have. So, we are now well out of the Chiltons. We have gone across what feels like the flat plane between the Chiltons and Oxford. And we’re a couple miles out of Oxford now. So, we’re on the final push. It’s very hot. I’m getting a bit tired. Getting a bit of a sugar crash from the cake. So, yeah. Looking forward to rolling into town. We are about 3 miles outside Oxford on the river temps. Yeah, there’s a lock behind you. There was a lot of river behind me. Yeah. 3 milesi and we should be in Oxford, I think. Nice. Oxford. Hello. Hello. We’ve made it to Oxford. It’s a very busy city. There’s a lot going on here, but we’ve made it. Excellent. Thrilled. I’m absolutely thrilled to bits. So many bikes. So, we have made it to Oxford station. So, that is the journey complete. Last phase now is to get on the train and head back into London. Heat. Hey, Heat.
