Bruno Armirail finit 4e.

Valladolid is ready to host the 18th stage of the Vuelta. An 18th stage with a somewhat unusual flavor since initially, 27 kilometers were planned in the streets of Valladolid. 27 kilometers reduced to 12.2 kilometers. This is the individual time trial, the first and only of this 2025 Tour of Spain . There had been a team time trial near Figueres. In Spain, today, it’s an individual time trial, so a few hours now from the finish near Madrid, a time trial. How important is this in view of the final general classification? The gaps will certainly not know what they should have been, with 27 kilometers initially planned. Only 12.2 kilometers to separate today, specialists, some very good people at the start of those against the clock. The first to set off is Oscar Riesebeek, David Moncoutié, who will allow us to discover a little bit of this course, 12.2 kilometers, you explained it earlier on the palette, laid out in the city center for the most part, in order to be able to block off the entire course. Only the start is technical with eight turns in total on the first part of the race. The arrival of Dan Hoole, who unsurprisingly, will achieve the best time on the line, a little less than 55 km/h on average. It will go faster. Yes, it should go faster. We expected on such a course to easily exceed 55 km/h. Is this Filippo Ganna’s day? In any case, it’s time to go for the Italian who, it’s true, has been very discreet since the start of this Vuelta. We saw him relaxed. We didn’t see him attacking. We’ve sometimes talked about stage finishes where there were things to try for a chaser, for a rider wanting to make it a kilometer. No, we haven’t seen Filippo Ganna so far. The time has come for him to express himself in the streets of Valladolid. He’s struggling at full speed. He’s struggling to finish. Ethan Vernon, he will, I think, be overtaken by Dan Hoole in the final. A fast, muscular start. There, we feel that the final straight was difficult to negotiate for the British track rider. Two kilometers too many, perhaps. It should have been shortened a little more for Ethan Vernon, beaten on the finish line. He finished very strongly. Filippo Gana, we’ll see how much that will be on the line. Four seconds on Ethan Vernon, he could have tripled or… We’ll have a fifteen-second lead. At least tripled on the line, a priori. We saw it with the small gap a few moments ago, less than 500 meters soon to go for Filippo Ganna, two-time world champion in the discipline. Already a winner here, two years ago, in Valladolid, it was a time trial on the roads of the Vuelta. Filippo Ganna has been discreet since the start of this Vuelta. Fewer kilometers on the program today, but still as strong when he sits on this bike in a time trial, Filippo Ganna will take the lead of the classification by a wide margin with, as you can see, almost 20 seconds ahead of Dan Hoole at the finish line. Winner of a time trial, him, at the Giro this year. The final, it was breathtaking for the Italian. I didn’t look at the average. 56.2. 56.2. A minute later, Ayuso, he’s another candidate for the podium. Why not victory? Stefan Küng, who will perhaps also benefit from Rémi Cavagna’s intermediate times, who has already finished for several minutes. Remember, Rémi Cavagna, for the moment, is seventh. He won’t be far behind. In the same times, or even a little better than Filippo Gana. If he doesn’t crash, he won’t be far from the finish line. Stefan Küng. Here he is first at the second intermediate after 8 kilometers of racing. It will be… The best time. Yes. We’ll see. He’s doing well on the march. The best time for Stefan Küng. Passing under the arch of the second intermediate checkpoint. The Swiss rider has the best time so far. Three seconds ahead. Than Mads Pedersen, two and eight-tenths faster than Filippo Ganna, who must now be shaking the Italian champion. We’ll wait for the Swiss rider at the finish line. He might be the best time in four kilometers now. When Juan Ayuso finishes, that’s it, the twenty seconds of time he’s spending on the finish line. He’s beaten by Rémi Cavagna, beaten by Mads Pedersen, by Ethan Vernon. There are many who are between 18 and 25 seconds behind Ganna. The Groupama FDJ rider now in the picture. He who has at least one victory every year, who hasn’t won this year, Stefan Küng, who arrives in the final. He’ll be behind. He’s the one who’s going to get closest, in any case. He might be a little short. Only 10 seconds left to finish for Stefan Küng, who’s giving it his all, who’s not falling apart. On the contrary, look, it’s staying put. It’s moving as little as possible. A quick glance to see where the line is. He’ll be behind Stefan Küng, beaten by Filippo Ganna, alone in the world. Really in this time trial, it’s hard to see now, apart from the Vingegaards, the Almeidas, maybe who can catch Filippo Ganna. Stefan Küng will have gotten closer. It’s the third tone at the finish. Oliveira went faster than Stefan Küng today. He still lost 15 seconds in 4 kilometers on Filippo Ganna. That’s it. Has the wind picked up? That’s still huge, 15 seconds. We’ll wait for Jay Vine’s turn at the first intermediate. Sander De Pestel had a great start, obviously, before crashing, but Jay Vine shouldn’t crash. If the start is great, we’ll whisper in his ear, four kilometers into the race. Will it be green? It’s not green, but compared to Filippo Ganna, it will be better. Second fastest time. It starts very strongly, practically at the same time as Mads Pedersen, faster than Stefan Küng. He puts more than three seconds on Filippo Ganna, on this first intermediate. Jay Vine starts very strongly. Best time at the second intermediate. Jay Vine, here he is, the wearer of the white jersey with blue polka dots. Where are we in this final straight? We’re at 500 meters. He’s beaten. Less than 15 seconds with 300 meters to go. Jay Vine who will give everything. It won’t end far. Which won’t be far anyway. 125 meters now. Jay Vine will be behind. Not much. Jay Vine is beaten for nothing. Filippo Ganna must have trembled. A second.
A one-second gap at the finish line between Filippo Ganna and Jay Vine. More than 56 on average for the Australian. Not even a second. Which means… 90 hundredths. That Filippo Ganna is unbeatable in the final stretch. What the Italian did in his last four kilometers was sensational, because everyone is hitting their heads in these last four kilometers, except him. We’re still with the Spanish champion, and we’ll follow the finish of Bruno Armirail, now the French champion 300 meters from the line, before meeting up with Florian Pigeon for the final questions, before of course following the favorites, those who will obviously be fighting for seconds, those who will fight to lose as little time as possible. They won the general classification. Huge finish from Bruno. Bruno Armirail, he finished very strongly. Bruno Armirail, he will be on the provisional podium of this stage. Bruno Armirail beaten only by Filippo Ganna, by Jay Vine. Less than 10 seconds ago, 9 seconds and 10 tenths ago, Less than 10 seconds, conceded by Bruno Armirail to Filippo Ganna. What a performance from Bruno Armirail again today. We often talk about decisive stages. This is one of them. The penultimate opportunity for Joao Almeida to turn this Tour of Spain around is now. It’s during the 12 kilometers that are coming up. Joao Almeida knows, he must make up time. Today, to Jonas Vingegaard, there will only be Saturday left to try to do it. It will be on the terrible slopes of Bola del Mundo. But already today, Joao Almeida has a lot at stake in this Vuelta. He’s the last rider to set off, Jonas Vingegaard. The leader of the general classification with his 50-second lead over Joao Almeida. He has been ill these last few days. He was the one who declared it, he was the one who conceded it. Fatigue is also starting to set in after an intense Tour de France, which he finished in second place behind Tadej Pogacar, after an equally grueling Tour of Spain. He’s entering his sixth week of the Grand Tour. In fact, Jonas Vingegaard, the Dane, is in this sixth week of the Grand Tour, and he’s the last rider to leave. Especially if we go all-in for Jay Hindley and Pelizzari, he could lose everything on Saturday too. He took the roundabout well. He studied the line well, in any case. Almeida is one second ahead of Ganna at the exit of this roundabout. It’s going fast. It’s a good visual impression, in any case, that the Portuguese gives. It’s going very fast. 5 kilometers to go for Joao Almeida. Push as hard as possible to try to gain as much time as possible. Not to try to catch up with Filippo Ganna’s best time, but above all to gain time on the rider in front of him now, the rider in pursuit. Not the one in front of him, but the one chasing him, namely, Jonas Vingegaard, whose passage through his roundabout we’re waiting for to get an indication also thanks to Jacky’s checkpoint. He’s in front, Filippo Ganna, at this intermediate, but it’s still a surprise to see Almeida maintain his advantage over the Italian in the last three kilometers. We’re waiting for Jai Hindley on the line. He still finishes well. So yes, he won’t be in the top 20 of the stage, but losing less than 40 seconds to a Ganna, in such an exercise, is still a great performance. Yes, by the way, Jai Hindley. He finished better than the Riccitellos, the Galls, the Pelizzaris. 13’32”. At the finish for Jai Hindley, a good time. Now, it’s going to be interesting. The checkpoint between Joao Almida and Jonas Vingegaard with about 4 kilometers to go. He hasn’t lost much for me. Jonas Vingegaard is only one or two seconds behind Almeida. He’s on par with the Portuguese. Everything will be confirmed at this intermediate point. The last intermediate point before reaching the finish line for Jonas Vingegaard, who was three seconds behind at the first intermediate. Will there be any here? Yes, there will be. It’s more. Three seconds? Three seconds behind Almeida. Let’s say, it’s nothing. They are at the same level. They are at the same level in the mountains and the same level, it’s not over, but in any case over the first eight kilometers, it doesn’t necessarily turn out to be to one or the other’s advantage. I arrive at the finish line now with Tom Pidcock crossing the line. Almost the same time as Jai Hindley. That’s it. Three seconds ahead of Pidcock over Jai Hindley. Status quo also for third place. A very good time from Tom Pidcock. Nine seconds, almost ten seconds ahead of Bruno Armirail. The final kilometer for Joao Almeida, second in the general classification, who is now giving it his all. Who knows, he has to push very hard, very, very hard, to try to take time off Jonas Vingegaard. 150 meters still to go for Joao Almeida, who won’t win this time trial, but who hopes to make up time and get closer to the red jersey. And Joao Almeida with third place. As expected, he dislodges Bruno Armirail from the provisional podium. The arrival of Jonas Vingegaard, the red jersey. He must be very happy that only 12.2 kilometers were covered today instead of the 25 initially planned. That’s for sure. Because on the line, he’s going to lose time to Joao Almeida. He’s going to limit it, of course, in the Portuguese is a good rouleur. Yes, 10 seconds. That’s it. Maybe barely 10 seconds, if exactly 10 seconds. Exactly 10 seconds lost on Almeida. Victory today for Filippo Gana. Ten seconds gained by Joao Almeida on Jonas Vingegaard. It’s promising, obviously, with this last big battle at Bola del Mundo, there will be about 40 seconds between Jonas Vingegaard and his runner-up Joao Almeida. No big surprise today. It was the best rouleur who won. And between the riders in the general classification, logic was respected. He fought hard, Jonas Vingegaard. Yes, to finish among the top ten of the stage, to come into this ranking among the specialists who, for their part, saved themselves a little on yesterday’s mountain stage. Eight victories in time trials, 28 in grand tours and 28. You see, the statistics were extraordinary. This is indeed Pippo Ganna’s 36th victory since the beginning of his career. They don’t have the 35th as much for me. You see, in the general classification, it’s getting closer between Vingegaard and Almeida.

Ce tour d'Espagne est une blague…. Alors qu'il suffisait de virer la team-propagande-israel. Honteux
Jay Vine clearly not interested in helping Almeida for GC. He's only up for his stage wins.

VIVA ESPANA Y VIVA PALESTINE! ❤️🇪🇦🇵🇸❤️🇪🇦🇵🇸❤️🇪🇦🇵🇸❤️🇪🇦🇵🇸❤️🇪🇦🇵🇸❤️
Unless there are some Giro-style fireworks on Friday or Saturday — the GC podium appears set.
Bravo a Ganna 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹!!!!!
