What to do when injured? (I tore my left gastrocnemius muscle during a trail ride last weekend) You work on your bike!
I finally replaced the stock tires (DHF/Aggressor) on my year-old Trance 29 (my very 1st FS bike), with Specialized Butcher Grid T7 (2.6) and Slaughter Grid Trail T7 (2.3). The new tires together are about 310 grams lighter than the old ones.
Had a chance to go for a test ride this afternoon (with clearance from doc), but since I'm still recuperating, it was just an easy ride on paved trails.
Off the bat, the new tires pedal more easily. I didn't expect it, but it actually felt like I gained a gear. They're also quieter than the Maxxis. Although on the way back home, as I was making a sharp turn into an uphill alley, the Butcher let out a loud "grrrrooowwllll" 😄
I can't wait to get back on the trails.
Oh, and after cycling for more than 40 years I finally got myself my 1st ever pair of bike specific shoes — Spesh 2FO Roosts 🙂
