Out of all the 2,600 km I cycled from Paris to Lisbon, the Bidasoko Bide Berdea — the Bidasoa Greenway — stands out as one of my favorite roads.

This 42 km greenway follows the old Tren Txikito railway along the Bidasoa River, connecting the Basque Country with Navarre. No traffic, just pure cycling joy through farmland, villages, bridges, and tunnels. It’s flat, peaceful, and full of history — the kind of road every bikepacker dreams of.

In this video, I share the story of the greenway, why it became a highlight of my trip, and practical tips if you want to ride it yourself.

[Music] Welcome to day five of me bike packing from Paris to Lizabon. The day had everything. Short but punchy hills. French bakery stop crossant panos shaklad. Fellow travelers along the Euro3. An amazing section of old railway turned into a smooth cycle path. I found this amazing stretch of road on the Euro3 network. So, this route is an old train route that has been converted into a bicycle lane. It’s mainly flat. It’s straight and no cars. [Music]
