Day 5 — the final stage of our bikepacking journey across Austria — was also our longest ride: over 124 kilometers from Melk to just outside Vienna, following the legendary Danube Cycle Path all the way east.

We began our day in the historic town of Melk, with its iconic abbey rising above the river. The route was smooth, flat, and fast — a classic riverside cruise through Austria’s heartland. The Danube kept us company the whole way, winding through vineyards, meadows, and charming little towns like Spitz, Dürnstein, and Tulln.

This stretch is famous for a reason: it’s one of the most scenic and bike-friendly parts of Europe. Dedicated bike paths, zero traffic, and wide-open skies made it easy to get into a rhythm and just enjoy the ride. We stopped for ice cream, river views, and countless photos — trying to soak up every last moment of the journey.

Arriving near Vienna felt surreal. After five incredible days, the Austrian capital came into view — a perfect ending to this unforgettable ride across the country.
