Hello everyone. My name is aveco. Thank you so much for always watching my videos. And thank you to those who are visiting my channel for the first time. I’m happy to meet you all. Your likes and warm comments always motivate me. Thank you as always. Today, I’d like to present a special radio show. I wanted to offer a change of pace from my usual broadcasts, and at the same time, I’ll be showing you the beautiful streets of Paris, so I hope you’ll enjoy it as if you were taking a stroll with me. Please listen at your own pace, just like a radio. Whether you’re drinking coffee, enjoying a drink, cooking, or doing laundry, I hope you’ll enjoy it casually. Today, I’ll be talking about why I decided to broadcast on the radio, giving you an update on my recent activities…I don’t think anyone is interested, but I ‘ll be sharing a lot of information, including my latest obsessions and some surprising things about my life in Paris. Oh! I also want to talk about pickpockets! I ‘m not sure I’ve mentioned recently that I almost encountered a pickpocket on YouTube, so I’d like to share a warning to everyone to be careful of pickpockets. I hope you enjoy today’s video. First of all, some of you may be wondering why I suddenly decided to do a radio show. While I’m a laid-back, stylish VLOG-style YouTuber, I actually really love talking. Conversely, people I meet in person often ask me, “Why don’t you do a talk-based YouTube show?” Thankfully, they ask me, “You’re so funny, why don’t you talk?” Ah, I guess I just raised the bar by saying that. Who’s out there who calls themselves funny? Most people who call themselves funny aren’t all that funny, are they? So, I’m embarrassed to say it myself. Incidentally, the greatest compliment in the world for me is “funny.” Many people tell me I’m funny every time I meet them, but it’s not because I want to say something funny about myself; it’s just because I love talking. So, if I love talking so much, why don’t I do a radio show? I used to do a podcast, and I still have an account, but I haven’t been able to update it for over six months. Despite that, I’m grateful that my listeners have been asking me, “Aren’t you going to do a podcast?” It was only recently, hearing those words, that I finally realized that there are people who are looking forward to my podcast. So, today, I’m doing it in radio format. And just between you and me, today, September 6th, the day I released my YouTube channel, is actually my birthday. So, I’m another year older. Since it’s my birthday, I want to try something new, and that’s why I’m doing this radio show. I hear people saying, “Happy birthday!” Thank you. Related to that, I’d like to talk about age. I’m not particularly obsessed with age. What I mean is that my Japanese friends often say, “I’m one year older…” as if they’re sad about getting older or feeling old. They used to say that a lot when I was in Japan. But I always felt uncomfortable about it. I always wondered, “What’s so negative about getting older?” But I’ve always had these thoughts and values. It’s not like my values changed after coming to France. I personally think it’s a wonderful thing to have a day when you can celebrate the day you were born and be celebrated for it. That ‘s why my Japanese friend’s words always felt strange. But after coming to France, it finally made sense to me. By “it made sense ,” I mean I felt like the French believe that aging is, in a sense, a beautiful thing. I was impressed by how they continue to enjoy themselves no matter how old they are. French ladies have this inherent sense that they become more attractive as they get older, and I thought that was very wonderful. And that’s a normal value in France, so what’s so bad about getting older? What’s so sad about it? So I’m looking forward to another year of getting older and starting a new life. In connection with my birthday, I shared my values about getting older. Also, since it’s my birthday, I’m thinking about trying a little radio show on YouTube. So, I’d like to share some of my recent realizations. To sum up, I want to talk about the realization that “Paris is beautiful, after all,” and how important it is to incorporate new perspectives into your daily life. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend to a client who was visiting Paris for work. It was actually their first time visiting Paris. I have the opportunity to introduce Paris to clients, and they asked me to get to know the real, local side of Paris, not the famous parts, so I showed them around . As we strolled around Paris together, I saw how happy this person looked, seeing them for the first time. It was raining really hard that day. It’s been really cold in Paris lately, with the lowest temperature felt between 13°C and 18°C, so it feels like summer in Paris is already over. On the day of our stroll, it was pouring rain as we strolled through Paris. I saw a customer taking photos of ordinary buildings, his eyes sparkling and his voice trembling as he exclaimed, “Wow, it’s so beautiful!” He stopped to take in each view, and I thought to myself, “That’s right. Paris is beautiful.” Through that customer, I was reminded once again that I live in such a beautiful city. I think there’s a sense that the appreciation for scenery that becomes so commonplace in our daily lives gradually fades. And then, seeing someone visiting Paris for the first time, I realized that Paris really is beautiful. Then, something interesting happened. I think this happens often, but don’t you sometimes get moved by a language or writing system you see for the first time in a new country? I’m often moved by the languages and writing systems of other countries. For example, when I traveled to Southeast Asia, the writing systems in countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia were unique. I wondered things like, “How do you read it?” or, “Is this art really a form of writing?” Japan is a typical example of a unique language. As Japanese people, it seems natural, but isn’t Japanese writing also unique? When non-Japanese people come to Japan, they often become so moved by the characters that they wonder, “What are these characters?” or “What does it say?” I think this happens a lot when traveling abroad. My customer suddenly stopped in the middle of the road, in the middle of nowhere. She was taking a photo. I wondered what she was taking a photo of, and when I went to see what she was taking a photo of, I saw a place like a bicycle parking lot on a Parisian street with the word “VELO” written on the ground. “VELO” is written on the road in front of the bicycle parking lot, and it means “bicycle” in French. What!?! They’re taking a photo of a bicycle! I thought. I also thought they were taking a photo of the “bicycle lettering.” I was so moved! When I first came to France, I realized that even ordinary characters seemed beautiful to me. I realized I’d had a time like that. Now, I’ve been studying French for five months, and since I started learning, I’ve finally begun to understand it and it’s become normal. My brain automatically and unconsciously began to understand that “VELO” meant bicycle, but when I didn’t know anything about it, even the word “VELO” and the word “bicycle” moved me, and when I saw that customer, I realized that. I think you get used to it as you go about your daily life, but It’s difficult to have a new perspective every day, which is why I think discovering new perspectives is so important, and it enriches our lives. In a way, it allows me to rediscover where I am, and I think it’s important to seek out new perspectives in my daily life, in order to rediscover my forgotten originality. Sometimes, my daily routine can make me forget where I live, so much so that I almost forget about it. But touring Paris with my clients this time was moving. “Oh, I see. Paris is beautiful.” It’s a very obvious thing, but it was a recent realization that reaffirmed it. Next, I’d like to share a story that recently shocked me. It was quite shocking… quite shocking. It was surprising, or rather, I thought, “Isn’t this just Japan?” It’s a story about an experience I had that’s rare in Japan. It was when I went to the dentist. It was actually my first time going to the dentist in France. I was curious about what a French dentist would be like, but I knew I had to get treatment anyway, so I went. It turned out to be just a cavity. I’d left it untreated for two or three years, and I had a huge cavity. It was like the tooth in that tooth-cavity education book I used to read as a child, with the devil poking it with a spear . It had a huge cavity, a perfect example of that. It was so impressive I wanted to show it to everyone. No one wants to see it, right? I’d left it untreated for two or three years. The dentist who examined me in France even said, “You’ve left it untreated for so long.” With a cavity that big, I finally—or rather, he urged me to—I went to the dentist for the first time in France. He insisted, “Let’s go tomorrow,” and that was my first time going to the dentist in France. I got treatment, but first I went to a dentist with a good reputation. Since I don’t know the standard for French dentists, I don’t know if it’s normal in France or just the dentist there is special. What happened was, you first lay down on the treatment table. You lie down while receiving treatment with your head facing up, and the dentist uses various tools. For example, instruments to suction saliva and instruments to file teeth. As the treatment progressed, I suddenly felt a weight around my chest. I wondered what was going on, and then the dentist placed the treatment tools on my chest. ” Huh… this isn’t a treatment table,” I thought. 😂 I didn’t think it was a desk or anything, I thought they were using me as a desk. 😂 In Japan, you don’t put treatment tools on your chest, do you? I think treatment tools are placed on dedicated tables. When I went to the dentist in France, I was quite surprised and thought, “What? Am I being used as a desk right now!?” They also placed the filed teeth on my chest. Of course, they laid tissue-like paper on my chest, but I thought my teeth were being placed on my chest, not on a treatment table. This was a shocking experience for me. I’ve been to the dentist many times in Japan and Indonesia, but I’d never experienced a treatment instrument being placed on my chest. It was quite a shock. I wanted to talk about this at a timely moment, and I’m glad I finally have the opportunity to do so now, about a month after my visit. I’ve been wanting to talk about this somewhere, so I’m finally able to. That was the situation at the dentist in Paris. It was a recent shocking incident. Moving on, I’d like to talk about the pickpocketing situation in Paris. I actually almost got pickpocketed recently. To cut to the chase, I’m fortunate that nothing was stolen from me. My wallet, phone, or anything else was stolen, but when I later told my French boyfriend and his friend about it, they told me that it was a pickpocketing tactic, so it was a close call. I’ve been wanting to talk about this on YouTube. I want to warn everyone to be careful of pickpockets when they come to Paris. I have friends who have actually been pickpocketed, and some people have also been pickpocketed, so I want to warn them. Japanese people are particularly vulnerable, so I wanted to talk about it. I’d like to talk about the method used to pickpocket me and other pickpocket-related topics. First, let me explain what happened. I take the subway to language school, and it happened on my way home around 7:50 PM on Metro Line 2. The subway car itself was a little crowded at the time. It was a little crowded from the station I got on at. Since it was a little crowded, I went inside the car. The inside is a connecting area a little away from the entrance, and I decided to stand between the cars. On Metro Line 2, there are no doors or other partitions between the cars, so there’s a place for people to stand. I was holding onto the handrail. I’ve been living abroad for eight years, and I’ve never been pickpocketed. That’s because I’m always careful. I was carrying a backpack at the time, but I was holding it close to me. Instead of holding it like a tote bag with one hand, I was holding it tightly in front of me, hugging it close to me. The train itself was crowded at first, but gradually the number of people thinned out and it became clear enough that someone could probably find a seat. Despite that, I noticed something a little strange. At first, there was a man standing to my right. But at one point, as the number of people thinned out, he moved around to my left. He was the one with his backpack. He came around to my left side, but he was really close. What I found even more strange was that even though the number of people gradually thinned out and there was more space, he was still next to me, which felt strange and strange. Then, at one point, he came into my field of vision . I think there are some gestures that you can tell by your vision without having to look directly at the person, and he suddenly shook his head from side to side vigorously. I knew something was wrong. The person standing on my left was shaking his head vigorously from side to side, so I could tell without looking directly. It looked like he was signaling to someone. There was another person in the car. There was someone in the car, separate from us, and it looked like he was signaling to their companions. However, since I was holding my bag, I was signaling to the would-be pickpocket that I wasn’t in a position to be scammed. But the would-be pickpocket next to me didn’t move away from me, so I think the other would-be pickpocket must have thought he was scamming. The person next to me didn’t move away from me even after shaking his head. However, I started to feel a little scared at that moment, so I moved away from him toward the exit, and I felt like nothing happened. I was planning to get off at the station just after that, so I felt like nothing happened. Thinking back on the situation, I realize that he was really close to me. There was enough space for me to sit, but he didn’t move away from me, so it felt really strange. It felt strange. My backpack has pockets on the outside, so I think he might have thought he could take something from there. That was the situation that the pickpocket was in. I managed to avoid it safely and nothing was stolen. I had heard that pickpockets often work in groups, but seeing it for myself made me realize that it really does involve multiple people. I heard from a friend who almost got pickpocketed that his girlfriend was also pickpocketed by multiple people, so I thought I should be careful. But to be honest, you don’t really know until you’re in that situation. You won’t know if you’ve been pickpocketed until later. That’s why I think it’s important to always be careful, like by always carrying your bag in front of you so you can protect yourself before it gets stolen. As I’ve said many times, I think Japanese people are easy targets. Not just in Paris, but in other countries too. Japan has an incredibly high level of security. For example, if you go to a cafe like Starbucks and leave your bag behind to find your own seat, nothing gets stolen, and no one even thinks of stealing. Even if you drop your wallet on the street, the chances of it being returned to you are higher. We, born and raised in such an amazing country, should be aware that this level of security is especially special. Not all foreign countries have good security. Sadly, pickpockets are especially common in Paris, which is why I think it’s important to take measures to protect yourself. I don’t want you to have a disappointing experience on your trip to Paris, so I urge you to protect yourself. Well, this radio show is nearing the end. The weather has been changing rapidly during this recording. This morning, there were some clear patches of blue sky, but now it’s overcast and overcast. Well, this cloudy sky is a familiar sight in Paris in winter, so much so that it’s practically the default. But when the sky turns cloudy, it makes me feel excited and refreshed . When the sky turns cloudy, I truly realize, “Ah, autumn is here, and winter in Paris is on its way.” This video of Paris is from sunny July and August, but as the sky gradually becomes cloudier, I really feel the cold of Paris. The other morning, I was heading to the Left Bank, passing through the Louvre, across the Seine. Looking at the map of Paris, the walking route was heading south, but as I passed the Louvre, it was incredibly quiet. I was the only one there. There was no one around. It was a very cloudy day, but I was standing there, completely lost in the Louvre. I felt like I was the center of the world. It was melancholic and emotional. I felt the melancholy of autumn in my heart. That’s the kind of season it is. Fallen leaves and fallen leaves are scattered on the roads in Paris. I was born in autumn, so I love autumn. Watching the video and taking a walk, I felt my favorite season approaching. So, what’s the final topic? This is a section where I simply share what I’ve been into lately. That’s it. It’s nothing to do with Paris. It’s just my hobby. If you’re interested, I’d be happy if you’d listen to the end. I know I should be open about my hobbies, but they tend to get a little nerdy. When I talk about things I love, if the other person isn’t interested, it just comes off as self-indulgent. So, from here on out, this is my self-indulgent section. So, I want to share something I’ve been into lately. Lately, I’ve been into watching movies with my boyfriend at night, after finishing all my work, eating dinner, and relaxing at the end of the day. I watch movies that are a full two hours long. The longest movie I’ve seen recently was two and a half hours. I watch movies like that, and there’s one I saw recently that I thought was great. Through this work, I realized once again that I also love this kind of subject matter. The movie in question is “Parasite.” It’s like, “Now?!” 😂 It was a hugely popular movie for a while. For those who haven’t seen it yet, let me briefly explain the film’s outline . “Parasite” is a Korean film directed by Bong Joon-ho in 2019, and it won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture. I think it became incredibly famous. When I think back to what was popular at the time, there was a dish that appeared in Parasite. I think it was called something like “Rangdong?”, but I can’t quite remember. 😂 I think a dish made by mixing ramen and udon was popular for a while. It’s a dish that appears in the movie, and I remember that it became popular for a while because of Parasite. So, I ended up watching it back then, and now I finally got around to it. I finally saw it in 2025. Here’s a quick summary without any spoilers. No spoilers included. The story is about the poor Kim family, who live in a semi-district of Seoul, who gradually find employment in the home of the wealthy Park family. At first, everything goes smoothly, but an unexpected secret is soon revealed, and the story takes an unexpected turn. The poor Kim family consists of four people: father, mother, older brother, and younger sister. And what do I mean by “employment”? Well, first, the older brother of the Kim family becomes a tutor for the wealthy Park family. He takes a job as a tutor to teach English to the Park’s eldest daughter, who is about high school age. Next, the younger sister of the poor Kim family becomes an art teacher to the wealthy Park’s eldest son, a boy about 5 years old. In this way, they continue to find employment in the Park family’s home. The final 30 minutes are shocking. The last 30 minutes of the film were truly shocking. That’s the story, but what does it depict? It addresses social issues like poverty in Korea, family love, and class differences. I felt it was a film that spoke to society. After watching this movie, I realized I love these kinds of socially conscious stories. I’ve always loved works that address social issues, and I’ve become hooked on them. However, I only watch movies I really like . I rarely try new things. I’m the type of person who watches my favorite movies over and over again. So how do I decide whether I like a new movie I’ve never seen before? You can’t really tell if you like a movie unless you explore it. But when I watched Parasite this time, I thought it might be quite interesting, and I thought it might be fun to explore new movies. I think there are many works that address social issues, but I really like how each one makes me think. And I especially love visuals. The shots in Parasite were so meaningful that they made me think. I wondered why they chose that shot. For example, to go into detail, there’s a scene where the characters are descending a staircase, and it’s shot from a distance… Sorry, this is a very nitpicky and nerdy point of view. I understand that it’s a very nitpicky point. I love thinking about the meaning of a certain shot, or the significance of a close-up shot of flowing water at this exact moment. I only watch a certain number of movies, so I don’t often have the chance to see new ones, but my boyfriend is a huge, die-hard movie buff. He suggests all kinds of films. That influenced me to try new ones. I’ll try a film he suggests I’ve never seen before, but I often watch it for about 10 minutes before getting bored and giving up. But when it comes to films I like, I get totally absorbed. The most recent film I saw, other than Parasite, was “Gone Girl.” It was also fascinating. I’ll talk about it another time. It’s two and a half hours long. 150 minutes is a long time for a film, isn’t it? Still, I binge-watched it because the story is so intriguing and thought-provoking. It’s a slightly suspenseful one, with intertwining human emotions. He said he’s been finding films fascinating lately and is hooked. I wanted to share a few things, so I decided to share them today. If you’ve been into anything lately, especially movies , novels, books, anime, manga, TV series, or dramas, anything is fine. I’d be so happy if you could share your obsessions in the comments. I’m looking forward to finding out what you’re into. I’m kind of excited right now. I’d love it if you’d share. I’ve been binge-watching Korean dramas lately. My friend said this to me, but when I get hooked on a TV series or drama, I can’t concentrate on anything else. I can’t even work anymore, and it’s like I can’t recover. But I still want to find a work that I can get hooked on, so I hope you’ll share it in the comments. Today I tried to deliver it as if it were a radio show. If there is demand for this kind of feel, I would like to continue it on the radio in the future, so if you have any requests like that, or things you would like me to talk about on the radio again, I would be happy if you could let me know in the comments. Well, I think I’ll call it a day for today. Thank you for watching and listening to today’s video. See you in the next video. This was aveco. Bye 👋
