The second year of a three-year cycle of fundraising for the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal will see money collected for a Christian Aid project in the west African country of Burkina Faso to help promote farming practices.

The appeal will also support a Church Mission Society project in Northern Argentina, one of the Diocese of Carlisle’s link dioceses, where a new centre – Centro de Formación Anglicano – has been created to train people to serve as Deacons of indigenous congregations.

Here the Rt Rev Rob Saner-Haigh, the Bishop of Carlisle, explains more about the appeal and signposts people to how they can easily donate.

Hello. I want to thank you for your generosity to the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal last year. Over the past 5 years, the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal has raised over £85,000, making a real difference to people who need it. This harvest, our Bishop’s Harvest Appeal, will again support two partner projects. In Bikina Faso through Christian Aid, women are learning poultry keeping and simple eco-friendly farming such as making bioar to improve the soil. These skills put food on the table, create small incomes and build resilience for families. And in northern Argentina with the church mission society, we are continuing to support the diosin Anglican Formation Center, which is equipping a new generation of deacons, including women, so local churches can serve their communities with wisdom and compassion. 10% of what we receive will support work here in Cumbria through Cumbria Development Education Center and Carlile One World Center building global awareness and action close to home. Please would you pray, give and share the appeal. Even a small gift helps. Support for a starter flock or for a training session in soil care can change a family’s outlook. If you’re a UK taxpayer, ticking gift aid adds 25% at no extra cost. To donate, please visit the Carlile Dasis website where you can find the information that you need. Thank you so much for your generosity and I pray that God will bless you this harvest. Thank you. [Music]
