Yeah, I’m always blown away with these events how many people come out and support and the atmosphere is absolutely buzzing. So yeah, I’m really excited. Yeah. Yeah. Um 56 miles is nothing for you. The red course, but just squeeze through because I can see Mark Caendish there. So Mark Cavendish, Mark, good morning to you. Uh you’re live on BBC 1, sir. How are you doing? I’m good, thank you. How are you? Yeah, I’m very well indeed. Thank you. Straight away and agree to do whatever he asks you to do. A massive cond [Music] for all the team. You speak to people and there’s never ever going to be anything even remotely positive about. Look at this. A bit of a bit of BBC breakfast royalty here from back in the day. What’s it been 10 years since we last saw you? Something like that. 5 years. I’m not sure. Louise and Dan obviously. How are you? Oh, we’re really excited. It’s an absolute honor to be here and we’ve just managed to fix Dan’s bike. So, all good and amazing cause. We’re riding both of us for prostate cancer in memory of our dear beloved Bill Turnle. So, amazing to be here, of course. And she’s been giving you lots of tips cuz it all started on breakfast, didn’t it? Your cycling career. Exactly. And the melodrome of Manchester. It was all because of Bill that I’m here because I took up cycling because of something he said to me in that Belladrome that day. So yeah, I’m here because that we gave you some chips last night. Chips and tips. Chips and tips. And also she just spotted um along with we’ve got 64 Olympic medalist here and 41 parolympic medalist. So Louise and I are sort of you know holding up our end. But I’ve been told by quite a few people my chain wasn’t on John. So that that has now been fixed. You weren’t going to get very and I’m ready for action. All right. All the very best today. I think we can actually go and have a chat to Chris now. Actually come on through Steven. Morning. We’re going to find our way through. Chris is here. So, Chris Hoy, good morning to you. Wow. What have you done? It’s astonishing. I’m so I’m overwhelmed really cuz I’ve been I didn’t see any of the crowd. I didn’t see any of this. I’ve been kind of kept away from it all. I’ve walked out and it’s just an incredible atmosphere. So many people here raising funds for cancer charities across the UK. Let’s raise a huge amount of money and and let’s have some fun. And you’ve got all of the different levels. You’ve got the the red level that you’re going to do. There’s the blue. And there’s even people who are going to be on static bikes going today. How important is it for it to be mass participation for it not just to be all about you guys with your gold medals? It it’s this is for everybody. It’s not just for the super keen cyclists on the expensive bikes. Sir Andy Murray. Hello Andy. Hello. Uh you’re live on BBC1 BBC Breakfast. Sir, how are you? I’m good, thank you. Yeah, slightly nervous or what? How you feeling this morning? No, no, I’m I’m sure I’ll get through it, but it’s going to be painful. Keen cyclist. I’m not. No, I cycled quite a bit during co but aside from that. But you still signed up for the red route, the 56 mileer, did you? I did. I signed up for the the red route. That’ll be the furthest I’ve ever cycled. So, who knows how I’ll feel afterwards, but it’ll be good. And as I said to one of the guys before, when when the phone goes into Chris Hoy number comes up on your mobile, you answer and you say, “Yes, what can I do? How high can I jump?” Do you Absolutely. Yeah. And I sort of said, “Is there any slightly easier rides you can do?” And he’s like, “No.” He said, “You got to redempt.” Yeah. You got to go for the red route. So that’s what I’m doing. Yeah. What a what a brilliant event. Thank you so much. Very good chess Benley Criy. This is like the nights of the round table here. There are so many nights. How why are you here today? Why did you think it was important to get involved? Well, obviously to support Chris and everything he’s been through and what he’s done. It’s just an amazing effort to see so many people here to support and such a great cause. Good morning to you. How are you? Oh, good. I’m just setting the route up for Barney cuz he’s not sure where he’s going. So, we need to make sure he doesn’t get lost cuz he’s cooking tea later. That’s your husband. There’s no way he’s going to be able to follow you, of course, is there. Um Oh, well, no. We’ve been having a few jokes about this in the family WhatsApp group and our school WhatsApp group cuz we got some of the children from school coming up to ride with Louisa and Charlie later. So, yeah. Who’s going to be who who’s going to be on whose wheel? Tuck ourselves in the corner here. They’re going to do a big countdown, I think, any second now. I mean, look at that for a lineup. Just go left to right. You got Jason Kenny, got Sarah Story, Chris is in there in the middle. Uh, as we say, Andy Murray, Ben Aninsley. Um, yeah, absolutely extraordinary. Great to see. Uh, I think they’re just about to do the countdown now. Becky Adlington’s there apparently standing on the other side. So, they just keep coming. The Knights and the Dames. Uh, great to see Dan and Lou. Look at Dan. Yeah, he’s typical Dan Walker that, isn’t it? He’s got himself right next to the main man to make sure he gets in the main pitches. So, this is the red route. As we say, 3,000 people going to be cycling around today. There’s a great big hill that there’s been lots of talk about that certain people are quite nervous about. We’re going to get the all clear. 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 [Applause] And they are off. Lots of smiles. Crikey. I’m not sure that many of these. Look at Louise Mitch. She’s smiling. Although looking slightly nervous. Mark Cavendish is thinking, “What am I doing here? I’m not normally surrounded by thousands and thousands of people.” But lots and lots of smiling faces. Dermit Mahan just going through there. More breakfast alumni. Great to see. Whoops. Photographers. Camera lens has just fallen off. Lots of waves. Lots of cheers. This is the red group. This is the 56 mileers. These are the hardcore. There’ll be then a blue group doing 38 miles. And as I say, all the way down to people who are going to be on the yellow course today who will be cycling on fixed bikes on the inside. What an extraordinary event. hopefully the first of many to come and as you heard Chris say earlier going to raise a huge amount of money, a huge amount of awareness and for people here today it’s just their way of saying we’re just going to give things a go. We’re going to live and thrive despite our cancer diagnosis.
