The Heights Primary School in Caversham is celebrating its first year of running a bike bus to school.
Hear from parents, pupils and teachers on the amazing experiences that have been had so far, and why it’s so important to help children cycle to school safely.
We’ve teamed up with Schwalbe to support parents and teachers across the UK to start a FRideDays Bike Bus at their school.

[Music] Today we did the bike bus. We do this every Friday. Uh so everyone came together at Albert Road Park. I don’t know how many were there, but it’s a good number today. And we all bike together to school in a bike bus. [Applause] [Music] I enjoy it because um yeah, I like being with my friends and it’s a quick and easy way of going to school. on the bike bus, you’re just like chilling, riding to school, and it’s kind of like more fun than walking or scooting to school. It’s a good exercise to start the day, isn’t it? So, the bike bus has just recently celebrated its first year. The number of children participating has grown um as other children have been able to see the bike bus arriving each Friday and they’re really keen and eager to join in. We really notice a big difference in our children’s energy levels. They arrive on Friday morning infused, excited to get into school. The blood’s pumping. They’ve been hearing some great music on their way in. And they’re excited and full of energy, ready to get going with their day. It is good to be active cuz it keeps you healthy and I like biking.
