Hey everyone!
First of all, thanks so much for all the feedback and tips on my last post. We did a short test tour and finally got some pictures of our bikes with all the gear. I also made a few adjustments: I added a fleece to my clothing setup (since many of you recommended a puffy) and bought a new Apidura 17L saddle pack for extra space. Apart from that, I’m pretty happy with my setup.
- Front bag: sleeping bag, mat, merino sleeping shirt, towel
- Frame bag: power bank, cables, hygiene items, windbreaker, headlamp
- Top tube bag: tissues, sunglasses, repair kit
- Saddle pack: tent, zip-off pants, rain jacket, fleece, boxers, arm & leg warmers
We also reworked our route based on your advice—thanks again! We definitely hadn’t paid enough attention to Slovenia before, but taking the Vršič Pass will be awesome for sure.
Now, as we’ll be entering Croatia from Trieste, the route looks a bit different. The roads around Rijeka still seem tricky to me. If anyone has advice on that section, I’d be super grateful! The rest of the route should be fine, and hopefully the small stretches on state roads won’t be too bad.
Rough plan so far:
- Day 1: Oberaudorf → Fusch
- Day 2: Fusch → Villach (or as far as we make it after Großglockner :D)
- Day 3: Villach → Vršič Pass → Bovec
- Day 4: Bovec → Trieste
- Day 5: Trieste → Drivenik (somewhere past Rijeka)
- Day 6: Drivenik → around Donji Kosinj
- Day 7: Donji Kosinj → Obrovac
- Day 8: Obrovac → Brodarica
We’ll still have some extra time to adapt if needed.
