Le Mont Dore to Rocamadour: A tale of confusing names, narrow shortcuts and the derriere of a chateau
[Music] n what an absolutely glorious morning woohoo uh we’re on our way to rock Mador which is a little Cliffside uh medieval village uh last time the population was counted I think there was 400 odd people um we’re heading through the national park uh it’s apparently about 3 hours Everything feels a bit skuff this morning yeah accommodation uh lean Rama highly recommended if you’re over this way uh the staff were amazing the food was great rooms were fabulous uh yeah and the views well I think they speak for themselves well this was an unexpected something it’s almost like being at home at the minute with all the fans by the side of the road the trees so we uh just pulled over in one of these little side rests there to actually have um just a leg stretch swap the GoPro batteries over ex then we had to do a very very tight turn coming back out of it again I’m sitting there going Sam wasn’t very comforted at all going I went first I’m very glad she didn’t see what I saw which was a tiny little snake crossing the road probably would have freaked her out so while we’re just buzzing here through the forest which is what we’ve been doing most of the day it’s me just forest and farmland and then occasional Ducks down into Gorges so one of the things we did when we got back from Argentina after our terrible performance in the dirt in Argentina was we both signed up to do a one-day Motocross course um for children basically it’s normally children who take it but anywh who uh one of the things they did was teach you how to put your foot down when the backslides out so this morning is a little slip which you didn’t get to see what the cause was or what the action was was a hidden pile of gravel and the back tire just slid completely out from underneath me and the Motocross CR training actually kicked in and uh just put my foot down picked it straight back up again um so Motorcross training useful even for tarmac both Sam and I both commented that we um hadn’t been taking as much video today it’s going and the reason is going we kind of got spoiled for scenery over the last week where is it going oh actually this is still stunningly beautiful and we’ve had the road to ourselves pretty much the entire time we’ve seen almost no other cars occas bits of farm equipment taxi Willie um but yeah it’s going in Australia You’ be sitting here going this is the most amazing ride in the world going uh it needs more Alps but nonetheless it is astonishing wow French Villages are crazy let’s check out that Bell Tower up there [Music] welcome to today’s Google shortcut teeny teeny tiny little Road’s going that said it did only take us to day one for it Google to put us actually on a flood dke normally it takes a couple of days so that was at least a bonus well these roads are definitely fitting the brief of [Music] um staying off tollways and highways there’s only just enough room for us to get past the car three Maseratis and an Audi timed that well for a little video didn’t I yeah we’ve got um just under 60 K to go so we’re 2/3 of the way for the day um it’s been another beautiful ride oh temperatures fluctuated quite a bit depending on whether we’re in the shade or in the Sun and I pile down low I literally switched the camera on just off just in time to miss the Mazerati car club driving the other way on this ridiculous road so we actually had to sit off in the side of the road and wait for them to go past so Google shortcut has gotten even smaller going even by Google standards this is woohoo and dark so the dirt road didn’t last very long and then we came out onto this rainforest Road it’s really pretty so here we are back on exactly the same road we just left before the little Google sh cut so I’m not exactly sure why but anywh who it was weird and lovely a so not even 9% of the time uh I’d much prefer uh traveling on the bikes now the 1% of the time is what’s happening right now I don’t even mind the rain anymore the wind but getting stuck behind a cattle truck really sucks so this truck in front of us is full of uh pigs and it is quite on the nose think my nostrils are going to break soon so we’ve been stuck behind this cow truck for like the last 5K descending down the mountain going and from the smell of it they’re not happy cows you just saw the landscape if I lived here and I was a cow I’d be happy right up until they put me in this truck check that out wow oh and we finally got around the cow truck let going and now I nearly crashed into the wall cuz I’m too busy looking at the castle again weird Google shortcut uh or it could be the real way going it’s all bit up in the air this does seem even small by Google shortcut standards though this is a pretty little town there a river so we’re obviously in Castle country cuz there’s another big ass Castle just up on that Hill up there should be able to see it come around the corner look at that great again castles Cliffs ridiculously beautiful it’s great and you got 25k to go well I think we are here in ramador sort of not sure it’s not quite what I was expecting no we must be out still oh there she blows over there on the left that’s what we came to look at so uh we’re coming into rock Amador and going to our hotel and the thing is the official address of our hotel is a kid you not Daria dhau ramador which is behind the castle ramador
