[Music] Mercury hotel. Thank you. [Music] Welcome to Race TV. Eggs. now or later. Uh but I think I just have them at for lunch. We we fruit salad fruit. You never have uh the ability. There’s like a 50 plate right there. You know, you crush that much fruit on a buy like blackberries. You got fruit monster. I like uh super nice to to be in the town of uh the TT already. So can have a easy morning here and enjoy a coffee and uh and then switch on for the TT this afternoon. This must be the finish here. [Music] [Music] Yeah, it’s not it’s not really a rest day, but for for your head, it’s it is you can relax and uh take the TT do not full gas completely full gas just to be in the time limit and think about the the next days. I feel like when I first moved to Nice, there were like one or two specialty cafes. Now there’s like 10. Yeah. I asked I don’t know if I asked you, but I asked Larry and Liisa if they had a recommendation, but it was just too much. And when I stayed 3 weeks, I did like three of them. Yeah. When you’re in the tour, is it hard to find time for yourself? Honestly, I feel like I get time essentially to myself on the bus once everyone puts their headphones in cuz then I just uh call my family or watch a show or something and you can sort of just zone out everything else and everyone’s just in their own in their own seat on the bus. Um but it’s also true that you’re just surrounded by people all the time. even on the bus, you know, that it’s zero time, but you’re also on there with eight eight dudes, driver, doctor, um, or a director. There’s always a lot of people around, but no, it’s okay. I think it’s we’re still in the early stages, so I don’t think I’m too uh exhausted of the commotion yet, but um I think by week three, I’m just going to be wanting to go somewhere with my family and be in silence. Yeah, I like it. Uh I mean otherwise I I won’t be pro cyclist. I think uh I like being my teammate and everyone and sharing moments but it’s true what N said. I think after 3 weeks uh everyone wants to go home and uh don’t speak with anyone uh and go just go riding alone with no one pushing you around and uh that’s what you want after 3 weeks. Thanks very much. Good luck today. Cool shirt, man. Have a good one. Thanks. Sorry. Sorry. Stand up. Stand up. I’ll let you clean up whatever if you want. [Music] We’ve been extremely lucky with hotels so far. We stayed in like basically a castle for the first week. I mean, this hotel has air conditioning, which is a huge plus in the French summer, but sometimes you get stuck in hotels that are extremely small, and our beds are basically like the room’s so tight that our beds are pushed right up next to each other, so we’re basically sleeping in the same bed. Uh, but like this, we do get a little bit of personal space, which is nice. And we can open up our suitcases here. Some hotels, you don’t even have space to open the suitcase. So, yeah, we have been very lucky. And um yeah, I think in general we’ve had some upgrades this year with an air purifier that the team’s been bringing to each hotel room and the eight sleep mattresses. So we get nice cool cooling mattresses at night which is really nice. Um but uh yeah, I don’t think everybody’s been quite as lucky the first week. I think some guys have been stuck without air conditioning or um yeah in really dark dark hotels, but um so far we’ve been we’ve uh it’s been a treat. How are you feeling here? Great. the the plan for today is now 1 hour for try the the TT and then uh I just start at 2:00 me and uh I start the warm up at 1:25. I just relax cruising morning. I don’t have to force food down my throat. It’s always good. Um, hey, you just got more time for for enjoying life, you know. This is my first ever Tamagotchi experience. And I had friends who had them growing up. Um, I thought they were I was always a bit jealous cuz like, man, I don’t have one. Just because everyone else had one, I kind of wanted one. But um yeah, our media team got us all Tamagotchis and whoever keeps it alive the longest, I guess there’s like an age meter on it, age and weight meter on it. And uh whoever has the the oldest Tamagotchi, the healthiest Tamagotchi by the end, I think they said gets to pick dinner. I assume that means dinner post tour to France. So, no. I adopted the strategy of he’s not born yet, so he can’t die. So, I’m going to win the the No, no, but there’s an age on it. Yeah, but if he’s not born yet, he can’t die, so I’m going to win. So, you’re just betting that mine’s going to die. Yeah, but if he doesn’t die, then you’re going to lose. Yeah, I’m going to lose. But it’s okay. Well, I’m going to make you I’m going to make you eat a double western bacon burger at the end of this race. high stakes. So, yeah, basically like two to three times a day, I’m checking on my Tamagotchi, feeding it, and cleaning up after it, keeping it happy so that it keeps growing and gets bigger than everyone else’s. I haven’t named it actually. I thought I thought I just call it Tamagotchi. It was good. A lot of people really awesome. It’s fast TT. Uh, so yeah, it’s over fast or quick at least. That’s nice. [Music] It’s like kind of a comfort meal. Uh, there’s white rice up there, but I’m just opting for some avocado toast today. Just Yeah. Nice. Going to put some hot sauce on there. There’s probably not a good chance I’m going to win today, so I’m just going to enjoy my meal. Heat. Heat. [Music] Take a picture of course. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. Not working. The lights. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heat. A 33 km power testing corn well suited to rulers. Hold the left. Long left. Hold the left leg. Very nice, mate. [Music] best time travel cuz we didn’t have to move. The start was right next to the hotel. The finish was right next to the hotel and there was 100,000 people here, I think. Don’t, you know, quote me on that, but it was great. Would do again. the reveal. All right. You better do it right. Well, it’s going to be good. Oh, that looks good. Oh, it’s going to be clean. [Music] Yes. [Music]

  1. Who hear remembers "Beyond the Peloton" with the Cervelo Test Team, and later involving Vaughters when they combined with Garmin? I really enjoy how RaceTV has carried on this legacy.

  2. 👏👏👏 “and the password is”, tamagachi (OK…did I spell it correctly?). Stage 6 tomorrow, good luck & stay safe!

  3. Very well made stuff . That's what good social media is about in our days. And – even if there is a LOT of pressure and there is no doubt about it – keep the spirit in the team! All the best! 🙂

  4. Neilson concerned about keeping his Tamagotchi alive. I'm over here concerned about him being abducted at one of these "dark" hotels… What on earth lol

  5. "Not much chance I win today, so I'm just going to enjoy my meal"

Didn't realize I have the same mentality as a professional racer 😎
