Day 15 of our cycle through France and another pannier-free ride to Marmande for second breakfast..
.
We woke to blue skies and a stiff wind, so I planned a morning ride, through the back roads to Marmande for a second breakfast…
.
Once we accepted that the end of this little trip was going to be very different to what we had originally planned, we have really relaxed into it and enjoyed exploring the area around Duras in a little more detail…
.
It’s a wonderful cycling area and today’s ride gave us incredible views and superb roads too.
.
We always take the roads less-travelled and today’s were like cycle paths, they were so quiet, and beautiful to ride ..
.
Tomorrow, we cycle to Bordeaux and then the train on Friday, back to Provence to get to the rugby at Aix for 1930h! .
.
We’ve now pedalled over 1000km, which still feels impossible, as we’ve had so much fun!

[Music] After a bit of overnight rain, it was a beautiful morning. So, we cycled to Marmont. We said hello to the donkeys, cycled past plum trees and acres of hazelnuts, too. The views were so good, we both stopped to take videos. But when it’s like this, why not? [Applause] We cycled on past more plum orchards, through little villages, and past vineyards, too. The grapes looked ready to be harvested. And then we found that they were the harvesters definitely started here. Now [Music] we cycled into Marmont, had second breakfast, then cycled out through sunflower fields that a few weeks ago would have been a carpet of gold either side of the road. Must have been magnificent. We stopped again to look at more views. The sky went on for miles. And then we cycled back into Jira. A beautiful day’s ride. at some figs and then sat down and just relaxed. It’s hard to believe that we ride into Bordeaux tomorrow and that this latest adventure is nearly over. After that, next stop is Apes for the Rugby on Friday night. Thanks for following.
