ONE OF THE BEST CLASSIC MTB riding skills basics vids. EVER. To this day….every time I hit the trails….I hear Blake's voice in my head: "Lookin' aheaaaad….braaake….MUHAHHAHA!!!….pumpin'!!….even fastahh!!…" 😂 🏆 GET OUT OF MY HEAD!! 🤬 😂
Remy M said, stand on the sections that are flat. Race/attack position when turns/anything other than flat comes towards you.
Great tips but entirely from a downhill perspective. Half the time you are going uphill. What about tips for climbing? When do you want your suspension locked out vs unlocked? When to try and stand (and how to) and when it's best to stay seated. True, the downhill bits are more dangerous and thus require more skill but uphill is fun too! At least if you're like me and love to climb. I am kind of opposite. The downhills are required links between the climbs. I just try and be safe on the downhills and look forward to the next climb. Sick, I know… 😉
Actually, i ride bikes from 2-3 y. O
Now i do most of those tips without even thinking
I have the poc knee pad I’m pretty sure just like youres did you’re ever slide down when you crash because mine did
Thanks Blake. Great video on how important the basics are. Basic skills like these are the heart of good riding.
Great job, mate. Very useful. Thanks.
Pardon my ignorance, but it’s that bike an XC bike?
I would add to the approach angle to turn your head towards the direction of where you are going.
Your good man thank u
I really appreciate a video like this where editing is done to focus on what is important, and there isn't a bunch of filler. The example at 6:26 was genius. I also like the 'outlines' that come and go like :47 — possibly even including that with timestamps at the top of the description (and ideally using the new Youtube feature where the progress bar is chunked and labelled). Once you've been riding you probably forget about what the problem areas are so if you ever do a follow up video you should consider inviting someone new who has only gone once or twice and then focusing on what they struggle with and asking them what questions they have.
Thanks!
AWESOME! Thank you for this 💯
Blake really makes any long Bike Videos more Entertaining to watch and Learn!!!
8:15… Who's choice of location was that? Blake or the cameraman?
😀
Got a MTB recently and looking for a decent stem that's not gonna break my bank 😅 the one on it at the moment is a uphill style one that makes me stretch a little tooooo much but still rideable. The bars are decent so should be fine with just a new stem or would it be better to get a bar and stem combo thing?
Thanks for the pointers!
No that much message about breaking 🤔
Why ride burmed curves with level pedals? I ride all curves with inside pedal up, outside down.
Can someone please give me some tips on my issue of hitting my butt on my rear wheel when I’m going steep downhills, steep drops & jumping?
Great stuff! This would've been really helpful when I first started riding years ago. (Do I detect a hint of S. Africa in your otherwise British accent?)
Removed my dropper post bc of body positioning best thing I ever did could never get the saddle low enough with it
No issues with assembly for me https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" – 5'9".
👍MTB👍
I haven't been on a bike for more than an hour in 20 years. But I grew up riding everywhere, all day and night.
Getting back into this is with a class 1/2 mountain ebike. (Without it, I can't ride, I'm a medically retired US Army
Infantryman with 9 surgeries making things difficult hah.) I hit the local mountain trails and went down at least 6 times, more times hard than not.
thanks 7 years later still very helpful for a beginner here downunder
Excellent storytelling.
The pacing is perfect.
Absolute genius.
So inspiring to see.
I enjoyed every moment.
I'm amazed by the quality.
This is such a treat.
