Stripped my 2003 Trek 4500 Alpha (26”) down to the studs. Rebuilding it as a learning experience and for nostalgia’s sake. So many memories with this bike. My current plan is to turn it into a single speed with a rigid fork. I have to replace the wheels anyway. Back hub is cracked. Front one looks like it’s been to war. Any advice for the simplest/ most cost-effective single speed setup or easiest wheels to convert? I think I’ll probably put my original fork on until I can find one that will work for cheap and the rest of the bike is working properly. I’ve tinkered in the past, but this is my first rebuild. Feel free to talk to me like I don’t know what I’m doing…. I do not.
