My wife and I are coming up on our 25th anniversary and we would really like to do a Bikes & Boats/Barges trip next summer, possibly in the Netherlands but we're not set on this. We started looking at this website and doing the math, it looks like some of the tours we are looking at may cost upward of $15k (flight and all that other stuff, etc.). We get that this stuff is expensive but we would still like to find ways that we could do this that isn't so expensive. I do some bikepacking but my wife is not up for that. She wants to sleep in a relatively comfy bed every night and limit the biking to about 30 miles (48 km) or less a day (I'd love to squeeze in a 100 mile (160km) day or two in there). We don't have necessarily need to do the boats so other types of bike tours are awesome too. I would also love to be able to fly my bike over too.
Anyone have any recommendations for ways we can do this, other companies to look at, organs to sell, etc?
What have been some of your all experiences with this? Have you hodge podged tours together or found some guided tours that were interesting and different? Can you fund a tour like this on just one kidney or do we both need to sell one?
