St. Agnes was a young Roman girl known for her deep Christian faith and wisdom beyond her years. When she was thirteen, the son of a Roman prefect sought her hand in marriage, offering wealth and luxury. However, she refused, declaring that she was already devoted to Christ. Enraged by her rejection, the young man fell into despair, and his father, upon learning the reason, had Agnes brought before the authorities. When she refused to renounce her faith, she was sentenced to be exposed in a brothel. However, divine intervention protected her. Her hair miraculously grew to cover her body, and an angel surrounded her with a radiant light, preventing anyone from approaching her. The prefect’s son, attempting to force himself upon her, was struck dead by an evil force, only to be resurrected by Agnes’s prayers, leading him to proclaim the power of the Christian God.

Despite this miracle, the authorities saw her as a threat and condemned her to death. She was thrown into flames, but the fire did not harm her. Ultimately, she was executed by the sword. Her martyrdom inspired many, including her friend Emerentiana, who was later killed while mourning at Agnes’s tomb. St. Agnes appeared in a vision to her grieving parents, assuring them of her joy in heaven. Her legacy endured through miracles, such as healing Constantine’s daughter of leprosy and an image of her in a church receiving a ring from a priest, symbolizing her eternal devotion to Christ. St. Agnes remains a powerful symbol of faith, purity, and unwavering devotion.

  2. What's sadder is that Christianity was legalized just 9 years later. She & her foster-sister were prob among the last few to be killed…

  3. This week, on "men who can't take rejection very well, throw a feet-stomping temper tantrum and ruin a girl's life" … Damn I'm glad I'm not a man. I'd be embarrassed for my gender like 120 times a day.

  4. Я теперь понимаю почему царица Екатерина платила золотом за эти шедевры. Столько мягкости.в лице девушки обречённой на страдания.

  5. The name "Agnes" actually means pure and holy. Derived from the Greek "Agni", and you will hear the word used in hymns like "Agni, Parthene Despoina" ("Oh Pure Virgin"). Saint Agnes popularised the name in Rome, I believe. And she is the patron saint of many things, one being sexual assault victims.

  6. Yeah, what about all of the other children in the world who were thrown into brothels? Oh, they didn't have the faith? Oh, they had faith, but they were taught the "wrong" one? This god needs to be called out for lack of compassion for all of it's children.. There is only free will where no one gets singled out for intercession. Why does she get help but all of the others suffer then die? I call bullsh*t.

  7. Wow, gee, thanks! I just thougt for a moment that all this marry young women-thing without consent that is actually part of our religion was a little sign that the greatest actually didn't think about our fate that much. "Thank he", for that white dress that makes me remember his love and compassion. Even if it looks suspiciously too similar to a wedding dress. I guess I'll at least rest form my un-deserved suffering when I die. Sorry for my english, angel. I don't even know where am I from

  8. God's love covers and protects ❤
    How sweet his love is!
For the God who created humans, a human body is not shameful thing, it is to protect us women from evils like this

  10. romans r not even alive to tell their side of stories. but considering the brutal savagery the pious christians showered all across the planet, one can guess it.

  11. I like that artists made such hopefull godly twists to otherwise horrible stories like "but dont threat! God is good! She is safe now!" Like awwww.

  12. Emerentiana was said to be one of Agnes's closest friends, her mother was Agnes's wetnurse and nanny. Still early in her learnings of Christianity, she was mourning at Agnes's tomb when she was attacked and stoned to death.

  13. It is a weird reflection on girls/teens,/women that either "marry God/Jesus" and the underaged girls/under aged teens and Adult women that say"I don't want to reproduce now/ever,".

What is the line of serving "god" and if 9 reproduce, the child will be born to be buried under ground in 5 hours after birth,?"

Look, if "god" allowed humans to see patterns… Then shouldn't an adult say," god let me see that 99.999% of my DNA would result in death in under 2 hours of life… Then shouldn't the person decide on adoption or not to reproduce?

Or are people saying to outlaw monks and nuns…. And virgins… Not everyone wants to breed
