Together with my friend Rok, we took on a gravel bike adventure through Greece — flying straight into Athens and starting right from the airport. What sounded like a dream road trip quickly turned into one of the hardest rides we’ve ever done.

Temperatures between 33°C and 38°C, endless climbs, chasing ferries, and pushing through pure heatwave conditions. Day 1 was already brutal with the sun burning down, but after a quick dip in the sea and some Greek food we recharged. Day 2 brought mountain climbs but smoother rhythm. Then Day 3 hit: I crashed hard at km 3, straight on my shoulder and hip, hospital visit included. Add the stress of racing against the clock to catch the ferry — in extreme heat — and you get the hardest day of my life on the bike.

But in the end, sweat, pain, and all, we made it to Poros and then Athens.
This is our story.

  1. Amazing trip 🔥
For transporting the bikes, go to a local bike shop – they will gladly give you cardboard boxes in which new bikes come in. They are much safer than the Decathlon soft bags. We used this for our trip to Madeira. I am sure your bikes came in those boxes when they were brand new.
Keep it up with this content! ✌
