Had a bit of a close call last month with my Specialized Levo – someone tried to pinch it. Luckily they didn’t succeed, but it definitely shook me up and got me thinking about ways to add some extra peace of mind.
I looked into trackers, but most seemed to come with pricey monthly subscriptions. I also didn’t like the idea of something being visible and easy for a thief to spot and rip off.
So, I ended up teaching myself some CAD design and started messing around with different ideas. Went through loads of failed versions before I finally came up with this one (pic attached).
It’s basically a little insert that holds an AirTag, slots into the steerer tube of the forks, and then gets locked in place with an M5 screw. Once it’s in, you’d never know it was there.
