Weston-super-Mare is a seaside town in North Somerset, England, known for its wide sandy beach, traditional pier, and Victorian heritage. Originally a small fishing village, it developed rapidly in the 19th century as rail travel made it a popular holiday destination for visitors from Bristol, the Midlands, and South Wales. Its long seafront promenade is lined with hotels, cafes, and amusements, while the famous Grand Pier offers rides, arcades, and family entertainment.

The town is also notable for its tidal range, one of the highest in the world, meaning the sea often retreats for miles, leaving vast mudflats exposed. This feature has shaped Weston’s character and its appeal to both tourists and nature enthusiasts. Beyond the beach, attractions include the Helicopter Museum, the Winter Gardens Pavilion, and the nearby Mendip Hills and Somerset countryside, offering walking and cycling opportunities.

Weston-super-Mare hosts events such as the annual Air Festival, drawing large crowds. In recent years, it has also gained attention for contemporary art, including Banksy’s 2015 “Dismaland” exhibition. Today, the town blends traditional seaside charm with modern leisure and cultural attractions, making it a year-round destination for families, holidaymakers, and day-trippers alike.

  1. Wh Smiths name will be disappearing from British high street across the UK and replaced with TJ Jones as it's been sold to Hobby Craft Owner Modella capital however with rapid growth of international travel the W H Smith name will still be see in Airports and train station hospital outlets and motorway services in the future.
