British four-time Tour de France winning cyclist Chris Froome was airlifted to hospital following a “serious” crash in training.
A statement posted from Froome’s official X account says he did not suffer any head injuries but scans revealed he has a fracture in his lower back, a collapsed lung and five broken ribs.
The 40-year-old is in a stable condition and is set to have surgery for his back injury later today, the statement says.

Breaking news….some dude that I've never heard of fell off his bike.
British on paper.
Why is he sponsored by Israel?
I hope they don't want a urine sample..aa it might find drugs as before after the tour de france..he is a cheater plain and simple
That fall was promised by his sponsor 2000 years ago..
Was actually funny when Biden did it. 😄
I hope in a total remise. Is time to stop to sacrifice the security to have success.
So, that is pretty much the end of his career. His contract with Israel Premier Tech is up this year. He was not likely to be resigned or signed to race a bike by anyone, and he has not had a good result since probably 2019. Done. The reality is that he probably should have retired in 2021. He had tried to return after his 2019 crash, and by the end of 2021, it was pretty clear he was not winning another grand tour.
I would wish him well, enjoy retirement, enjoy your money, heal well, and well, that is about it. I was never really a fan, but he has not been relevant ofr a while. Good luck to him.
He won't be retiring from pro cycling inside hospital — unless a return to then leave on his terms is completely out of the picture.
Gutted. I watched the whole clip and they didn't show the crash in graphic detail. That's 1 minute 47 seconds of my life I won't get back
Time to hang up his Wheels now…..hopefully he can recover quickly..
More than likely it was his final professional appearance. Sure he'll be done after this crash and recovery.
Wasn’t he in a crash in 2019?
