Day 16 on the bike and today tested me more than any other. The morning started easy, but by late afternoon I hit the wall. My body wanted to stop, but I still had three more hours left to ride if I was going to reach my daily 70km target.
I’m cycling across France on my way to Italy for a friend’s wedding, and there’s no option to slow down. If I don’t keep pace, I won’t make it in time. That pressure is what keeps me moving, even when every pedal stroke feels impossible.
Rolling into a quiet French village as the sun set, I felt completely drained — but also proud. Proud that I didn’t quit, that I hit my target, and that I’m still on track for the journey.
Bike touring isn’t always scenic roads and easy miles. Sometimes it’s sheer stubbornness, long hours, and pushing through the wall. But those are the moments that make the trip unforgettable.
