My First Ever Audax Ride (And What I Learned!)
I took part in my first ever Audax ride, an 80-mile adventure through the beautiful countryside of Cheshire and Shropshire. It was a proper introduction to long-distance cycling!
Riding with my buddy Ken (my father in law 80 year old “Sir Kenneth”), we explored stunning spots like Nantwich, Whitchurch and Whixall Marina, and a fantastic cafe in the woods at Haughmond Hill near Shrewsbury.
The route had a good mix of rolling hills and flat stretches, with 2,700 feet of climbing to keep us on our toes!
In this video, I’ll share what I learned from my first experience of the mental game of riding long distances. If you’ve ever thought about doing an Audax, this is the video for you!
Many thanks to Brandon for organising the event.

We loved this ride. Are there any Audax regulars out there? How many have you ridden? Which is/was your all time favourite? Any advice for an Audax newbie like me? Thanks for watching. Feel free to comment below. Cheers 👍
Sir Kenneth is amazing
I’ve rode just one years ago. There wasn’t any races on so me and my mate drove 2 hours to do an audax and the organiser wasn’t going to let us ride because we were on pure racing bikes (the rules were pretty strict back then)in the end he let us ride it 200km I think it was, we were first back. Thanks for another entertaining video 👍sir Ken is an absolute legend 🚴♂️💪🏻
Well done both of you. Great videos and lovely banter between the two of you.
It was great to ride with you both hope to meet up very soon
Wow, Sir Kenneth deserved his knighthood, a very sprightly chap at 80yo. Enjoying the vids.
Looked a great ride. Trying an Audax is on my 'to-do' list so a well timed video for me. What type of Torm jersey was that?
