So very happy my racing days are over!!!
strava streak? What is he even blabing about? I see the streak feature, but it is a WEEKLY streak, so you need just 1 activity per week to keep your streak alive.
I started the 1000 Day Strava Streak club – but notice it is ANY thing you post, not only rides. Yoga, Strength, Walks, anything you post daily is all good. And YES you do get Kudos for those coach! Sorry – yes strategic consistency – love it. And YES I am in the 1% club too, cheers. BTW – yes Scotland road rides rock.
TAKE THE MARBLES OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!
He rants on like a (very) drunken vicar
What kind of dialect are you Talking 🤔
Came across your video whilst scrolling.
Excellent advice explained clearly.

I cycled everyday commuting and long rides every weekend but since I retired and I don't commute anymore I'm not half as fit as I was 😢
What about recreational cycling. People cycling just for fun and enjoyment and to enjoy outdoor environment. One should come out of speed and distance mentality and yes resting is a must.
I commute 5 days most weeks (60km round trip) – I do all of this in zone 2. HR rarely goes above 135 and I absolutely love my commutes. On the weekends, if the weather is good, I go out and ride hard, sometimes on both days. Following that, my commutes are more in zone 1 until I recover enough. If it rains badly, I try and work from home and don’t go out on the weekends. I also do yoga every day, just 10-15 min and on days off the bike for an hour. Works for me! 😊
Ok, I subscribed just for the accent.😂
I also found Zwift to be forcefully addictive, virtual road, other people around you, some arbitrary statistics for segments times, streaks etc …
I used to just set a resistance or gradient on a computer in a different room and just ride, analyse data later if i need.
Apart from ignoring streaks as all my rides are private, this is me, me, me and erm me. 40km day after day after day. Mainly because of over 50 year old guilt (and inherent military training to keep going) 🫢
@BulletproofCycling
How wide are your bike tires and what tire pressure do you use?
You're right coach
What exactly was the message in this video? Don’t get it. It would be a good idea to actually make the words mean something.
that bike looks delicious xd
Brilliant advice 🙏🏾👍🏽👊🏽💪🏽
Only 218 days into my streak
yeah the point about training blocks is so true! hermq really helped me structure mine better
this is helpful, btw hermq has better tutorials on workout splits and building strength
good points about off-bike training. def gonna add some strength work to my routine 💪
i agree, rest days are so important! almost killed myself chasing strava segments last year lol
this video is gold! finally someone talking about strategic consistency instead of just 'go hard every day'
@ 0:59 No they don't. I ride 77 km 5 times a week and I still shiver like a dog when the room temperature gets below 22°C. Even L-Thyroxine doesn't help.
60 year old here, been hard at it for 2 years since I got back into the masochism! 😉 I generally ride 2-4 times per week, depending on weather, how busy I am, etc. Keeping in mind a ride a 10 yr old hardtail claptrap (17kgs) and with me (6'1", 103kgs lean) that's a lot of watts to push up the hills around here lol! Getting an all-road 10kg more appropriate bike soon, as I mostly ride roads (bitumen and dirt) + some light trails these days.
Surprised Strava haven't copyright claimed this video yet or pulled some other takedown BS heh.
That's the point, improving bike setup, so you're ride isn't lost in struggling with the bike.
Looks like your exposed 😳
I ride everyday multiple times for last 5 yrs. Multiple hot ass bikes i made and ride em hard. My legs are solid now
You eff up your neck. From age 14 to 29, 100 miles a day. Now my neck, as many semi/pro riders is a constant source of pain if I ride the drops.
Good video. I've changed activity visibility in Strava so that only I can see my activities. The only exceptions are when I need to go public in order to add people to the activity. For public activities, I wish Strava had an option to not allow kudos. I'd be happy for friends and family to see what I'm up to, but I don't want impersonal congratulations.
you grow to two meters eat cheese and start living in a tulip
frodo we got to get to mordor
Good advice, I try to get out there daily and I try to get faster everyday and it's a very bad and dumb habit that I can't get rid of since I was a teenager when I was a miler in track and field. And it only slows me down and it exhausts me.
Ok ok, I'll actually stay in zone 2 today.
Sorry coach, yesterday 120 km, today no can do. 😂😂
A structured regime of any sort, particularly physical exercise (such a committed bicycle riding with intent), is important, that goes with saying. I mean, keep at it and you'll develop legs like tree trunks if you maintain a decent cycling programme to build up stamina. I've been there, done that, but for my own personal gain not to break records, and after a couple of years I was fit as an ox and cycled from England to Egypt. But, and here's the thing, it's equally important to take time out…whether it's one or two days a week, but gain benefit from that valuable time out because you'll be glad that you did. Simple!
I ride twice a week on sat and sun.
And I do strength training (weights ) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (and at times Fridays).
And have off days on MON and THU. due to work schedule I can’t do more.
But this is the best combination IMO.
People get too caught up with one thing all the time.
Is it the rest or the time away from cycling?
Great video, good advice.
Excellent suggestions and ideas you were able to share! Finally someone gets to the core of our cycling reality… lifelong endurance cyclist, Erin🚴🏾♂️🚴🏾♂️🚴🏾♂️🚴🏾♂️
I'm 78 years old and cycle everyother day. My body seems to need longer to recover than it did when I was younger.
I’ve recently started riding and it’s a tall order at first but feel better for doing this and all the things that I’m struggling with is the hard seat sore ass lol I can do 60 plus km no problem but that seat is a pain in the ass lol 😂🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Super excellent video. I should listen to this daily. I do a bit of mountain biking mixed with a little road, so I beat the crap out of myself and could never ride every day at 56. My issue with Strava is that I want to get longer, faster and more epic rides and sometimes I just wear myself out so much that I don't have the energy for life. So now that I watched this vid, I'll take a day off after tomorrows epic 4 hour MTB ride…ha.
I have week or even two weeks away from the Bike and Gym every six to 8 weeks . I dont train everyday and never would .
My husband broke his collarbone & was off the bike for 6 weeks. I used this time to improve my cycling with the goal to beat him on our club ride. Well … that didn't work. Yes, I got better, but he was better than ever on his first day out!
Very true. I’ve fallen in this trap many times.
