I’ve updated the description of this video after receiving some excellent feedback and want to clarify a key point about the signs discussed in this video. While these signs strongly advise pedestrians to stay off cycling trails for safety, the legal situation is more complex.
The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CROW Act) gave the public a new legal right of access to “open access land” in England and Wales. This land primarily includes mountain, moor, heath, and downland, and much of the land managed by Forestry England falls under this category. This means that, by law, the public has a right to walk on this land.
Therefore, while a sign with a crossed-out person is a critical safety warning and should be respected, it does not always represent a legal prohibition. It’s a way for Forestry England to manage risk and guide people towards safer, more suitable walking routes.
This reality highlights a significant challenge for forest management: balancing public access rights with the need for user safety.
I have my opinions on this and clearly not everyone agrees, which is absolutely fine as is your right to agree or disagree. I’m not changing my opinion on the response I got but clearly the signage is not as clear cut as it first appeared.

If you ever got to a rubber running track that happens to be open to the public, for instance to do your intervals training, you can find idiots on it. People waking around in Lane 1, parking their strollers in Lane 1, etc. It doesn't matter that the city has hundreds of kilometers of trails and park paths. They chose to be in Lane 1 of one of the few running tracks where runners are doing training with a stopwatch. Late Tuesday morning, to avoid weekenders and all.
Dude your a loser, I hope you crash and break every bone in your body.
God i hate the british
Don't be a prick all your life, they were taking their kids out into the fresh air and away from screens, also the sign didn't say walking is prohibited. Learn some anger management, you intolerant person.
-moyte it's bikers only
-hey it's not your business not your trail
-moyte im moykin it moyne
what's this from?? 😂😂
I have no idea why you think the sign means pedestrians are prohibited.
You sound vaccinated.
I get the feeling you're usually having a bad day
You are just an idiot ,acting like a bitch !!! you don't own that trail , good thing none of them guys was me , I swear cycle past my dog like that I would freaking beat the living days outta you….punk
Or just have a bit more of a relaxed mindset and deal with it more gracefully.
Poor mark. Suck it up.
In my experience, helmet wearing cyclists act as if they are entitled to everything. Who cares if people ride slowly without a helmet? And the sign clearly says people can walk there. One of the lessons learned in Kindergarten – share.
Bringing your kids, so that they can receive the Darwin Award together with the parents.
This is a non-issue. Why should people go where they like. A bigger issue for me is when dog owners get annoyed because they have to hold on to their dogs when I ride passed despite being on a bridle way.
Those are the people that are letting the migrants in your country!
Typical cycle attitude as soon as his training wheels are off and his lycra and bum chaffing juice are on , he wants to berate normal folk on land he doesn't own…giving everyone a bad name
Please go and get some help!
Maybe find a new hobby. My kids like riding bikes too.
Bit silly going for a walk on a path designed like that. If it was designed for walking it wouldn’t have banked curves 😂
Cocky fkn Gen Zs think they're so entitled. Self centred and think the world revolves around them and their kids.
I wouldn’t advise this man to have children. 😅
Never had a problem with cyclists on canal towpaths, but joggers omg, they expect you to just vanish when they run into you no warning,
M1 says categorically 'No Pedestrians'. You should be aware that on this trail the signage is a bit vague/ inappropriate and therefore there may be pedestrians and consequently ride according to the situation. You really need to be complaining to whoever put the signs up, not families out for a walk.
Biking for fun and fitness? Bike people have their reputation as demonstrated.
At least those kids are not home on some sort of gaming devices all day. They are outdoors. Chill.
This guy’s an angry British Karen
You're kind of a twat huh?
They are everywhere, I hike and many paths that are no cycling people will lift their bikes over the stiles and cycle there anyway.
They are "improper" but you do not sed it to curse like a sailor when kids watch your videos……and the world wonders why….
Hey, mate, they shouldn't have been walking on a bike trail but you're a douche for criticizing people for not wearing a helmet.
Rsole.
Wow. Didnt know anyone still used the R word since the 70s…Projecting much?
Remember, if you hit a pedestrian, regardless of a sign, they wont close the path to walkers, it will close to bikers. chill out.
Perhaps better titled “is this idiot for real” – just be nice to people……..
Thats a beautiful track man. Whats out here by me is so gnarly we don't have to really worry about hikers. I'd ride that loop repeatedly all day.
You do not own that trail.
Unbelievably I nearly ran into a family who were letting their kids run around berms, 30 second down from the start of blue Doune on the Nevis range.
I stopped easily before them but explained that they really shouldn't be here. With Quizzed looks they said OK. 20 seconds of silence and I said you really need to move off and back up top. OK again and silence again. Foreign I thought. So in typical UK fashion slowly I tried to explain. Then in broad English he asks, so we can't walk down his with kids…. Beam me up scotty thought I and ride off…. I'm pretty sure people weren't as stupid as they act these days before dumb phones came of age, or are there just more now? 🙄
Odd days and even days for each user of the trail works wonders. Odd days for bikes only and even days for hiking only it solves so many problems people cant solve themselves.
Now you know how motorists feel when MAMILs spread their arrogance out along the roads.
You’re a balloon.
A friendly biker 😅😅😅
