When Ugandan dictator Idi Amin expelled the country’s Asian population, Leicester City Council ran a campaign advising them not to come to Leicester.

50 years later, Leicester is the first UK city with a majority nonwhite population with just 41% of the city identifying as white.

Given the state current political discourse around immigration, refugees, and migrants Ed Campbell went to Leicester to find out what they really think about immigration.

This is Extreme Britain.

  1. Holy shit, I'd heard about leicester but look at it, the scenes from the background alone are surely enough to say we've let in too many immigrants. There is literally an Islamic call to prayer in half the clips.

  2. Leicester isn't the utopia they're trying to make out. Consider the crime rate: Annual crime rate in Leicester postcode area is 37.4 crimes per 1000 people. Compared to the national crime rate, Leicester's rate is at 107% as of January 2025. Violent crime makes up 36.1% of all crimes reported in the postcode area. Now, I wonder why that is? I wonder if asked, how these immigrants would feel if their home country, their villages, they were suddenly in the minority. Would they think it ok or not?

  3. east London is now well under 10% caucasian, many of them are eastern and central europeans. More likely to hear the odd black person speaks english than anyone else. How is this 'diverse' or 'multicultural'?

  4. The pity party of 'my dad left me,' 'better life,' 'war,' do they not think that the UK citizens want a better life and that there isn't citizens who struggle everyday? It's funny how people hate the UK yet they come here and the ones who are born here who hate it don't leave.

  5. I've been in Leicester this week (I'm from Spain) and this topic was shocking to me. Barely I see a British person… Not a good British vibe, a lot of homeless people as well. Sorry for the British people who really love and take care to the City, but it's not good for Europeans visitors (and maybe for English neither).

  6. british people are really stupid its unreal. if you think mass immigration is good. some immigration, sure whatever. but if you think its ok to be outnumbered thats insane.

  7. he's not going to geta job in computer science speaking like dis and dat fam ya get me
and were funding all these children of migrants to do all this education which leads to nothing

  8. There needs to be work done to better integrate people of different foreign cultures in Britain, so that they can blend well into british cultures and ways.

It can't be coincidence that within a couple of years of Birmingham becoming a minority white British city, its become the only city to go completely bankrupt with rubbish literally piling up on the streets. I'm not against immigration, im pro immigration, but clearly something is off, perhaps due to integration issues, i dont know. But the fact that the places many of these people come from are corrupt, bankrupt, with rubbish all over the streets, and the moment they become the majority in am English city the same issues suddenly occur in that city, suggests its a cultural issue.

Again, im pro immigration, i think its ultimately a healthy thing for a country, but clearly there is a significant issue with how its being carried out. Higher ups need to put on non emotional, logical heads, and look for what needs to be addressed in the immigration system to improve integration

  9. 1:07 that guy literally sounds like the opposite of what a person either born in England or came when they were very young sounds like? He can barely speak English. The pattern normally tends to be people like this (sounds/looks) have the parents from the 3rd world.

  10. Why is it all on the UK? An island a third the size of Nigeria, one country of 226? In the world. Imagine a village with 10 houses, only one house looked after itself, made dinner and did the cleaning, then the rest of the village decided to come live in that house every day because they didn't put the effort in of their own. Draining that homes food and making more mess. The owner would want them out. The question is why can't they make their own homes (country)nice?
