Welcome to the final stage of our 11-day cycling adventure along the Danube River! 🚴
Today’s ride covers 94.1 km from Esztergom to Budapest, Hungary, marking the end of our journey from Passau to the Hungarian capital.
We began the morning with a short walk around Esztergom, admiring its historic streets and architecture. Setting off along the Danube’s left bank, we crossed briefly into Slovakia before re-entering Hungary. From there, we continued riverside until Vác, where we took the ferry across to Tahitótfalu.
The day brought a mix of scenic riverside cycling, farmland roads, and one of the busiest stretches of the entire tour — the road between Tahitótfalu and Szentendre. After navigating the traffic, we enjoyed a smoother ride into Budapest just in time to watch the sun set behind the Buda hills.
We celebrated our arrival with photos by the Hungarian Parliament Building, the Chain Bridge, and the Danube waterfront — a fitting end to our 773 km journey across Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary.
