Finding Water in Norway
Kneeling beside a clear creek, I fill my bottle and reflect on how easy it is to find safe drinking water in Norway. In more than 2,000 miles through Finland and Norway, I’ve only used my filter twice—every other time I’ve simply drunk straight from streams, rivers, and lakes.
Here, fresh water is everywhere, flowing clean and cold from the mountains. It’s something rare in much of the world, and it feels almost miraculous: to drink directly from the land without worry. Out here, even a sip of water becomes a reminder of how much the earth provides.
This is Begin Again—a year-long ride from North Cape, Norway to Cape Town, South Africa, to explore gratitude, resilience, and what it means to live awake in the world.
