Started the day with climbing Luz Ardiden (1,200m), wide open roads with no traffic. The last couple of kilometers made all the pain of the climb worth it. The open alpine views of the switchbacks to the to summit were breathtaking. From there I headed over to Hautacam, probably not the best idea to climb this in the same day. The climb was relentless, my tired legs from Luz Ardiden really kicked in about half way making me question if I could make it. In the end I pushed through it (my wife alongside me on an e-bike talking me through it) and made it. There was a lot of Tour de France signage on the roads which made it worth. My Domane SLR 9 is a pleasure to ride, at 85kgs I’m not a light weight and appreciate the comfort of the Domane. Descending these alpine climbs is breathtaking, between the confidence the Domane gives you, ultra smooth roads. Every kilometer is a dream.
