Just wanted to share the tyre clearance for the new boardman adv 8.9. the tyres fitted are the continental contact urban 42mm. These will be my winter commuter tyres. Seems there's plenty left for up to 50mm.
As regards mudguards. I was looking to fit the sks edge aluminium 55mm. They fit to the frame very well except for the grx front derailleur. The bolt that connects the mech to the frame pokes out a little meaning that the mudguard won't be able to sit flush to the frame and bolt to the stays near the bottom bracket.
I'm not sure how to get round this.my thoughts are you can run thinner tyres and thinner guards, you can use the speedrocker clip on guards, cut a section off the guards to make them thinner at the bottom or run a one by set up. The adv 9.2 has a SRAM one by which would help. Any other thoughts? Plus hope this helps other buyers.
