Yesterday I got to discover a new part of my favorite gravel region – the Schwarzwald (Black Forest). There was an organized group ride in the Kinzigtal, starting and ending in Fischerbach, and I was able to join! The scenery and the landscapes were amazing! There was a ton of climbing involved, which is a weakness of mine, but the views at the top were worth it for sure! I unfortunately didn't finish the whole route as I had intended, but still it was a fun day out. At a certain point, the terrain just got too technical for me, and I decided to take some champagne gravel and paved roads back to the start. I'm still a beginner with biking, so I didn't feel super comfortable with the exposed roots and massive rocks on the trails past the 40km mark. I think I would've been able to finish the rest with a MTB, but with the gravel bike, I just wasn't having fun at a certain point. Mad props to all that did finish – I hope to be at your level some day!

Either way – if you're in or around this region, please check it out! There's so many beautiful routes you can do, and you have lots of choices for distance, elevation, and technical condition of the trails. This is one of the best places in the world where you can take a gravel bike!!
