Wild camping is illegal in the UK, aside from Scotland and Dartmoor in the South West. Why is that? Leave your opinions in the comments!

Its a civil matter mate, so most land owners will just ask u to move. But better to setup late and leave early. Also camp where vechicles cant go. Most are not trekking just to move u on. Also ste. Keep it quiet, leave no trace
Wild camping is legal in Scotland
And its not techically illegal because tresspass is a civil law … we do it all time check us out
It’s absolutely disgusting for it to be illegal and @Tom-bk1yv people who go and do this are usually not totally stupid, they’re not doing it because it’s illegal either (Which it shouldn’t be imho) they do it because they’re nature lovers, and have no intention of making a mess or leaving any knowledge of ever having been there. Right on Ste for sharing this with people who 😂would never think of it let alone to do it!!! I am still doing it and I will until I can’t anymore, in my 50’s and I have no idea of stopping anytime soon✌🏼&✊🏼.
Not illegal in Scotland. Tbh not illegal anywhere in the UK, but also not specifically legislated in favour of anywhere outside Scotland.
Absolute load of Jackson Pollox pal.
If you get up high and pitch late and pack up early you'll never have a problem
It's fucking mad that camping in nature is illegal here. Fucking ludicrous.
I have done it dozens of times and never had a problem. Like a lot of your comments say, pitch late and leave early. It’s only become an issue because of some people taking the Michael and staying for several days with multiple tents, blasting music and leaving a mess behind. Even the grumpiest of Farmers will normally just ask you to move on and suggest that it would of been polite to ask first. Most of the time you wouldn’t know where or who to ask on a 1000 acre farm. Anyway, to summarise, if your respectful and discreet you should never have a problem
Pretty much encapsulates the state of things. God forbid you tweet something naughty whilst wild camping…prob get 10 years 😂😅😢
Is this what united has led you too
If you're up early, youll never have an issue. An SA80 usally helps too.
This is one of the things I love about my country (Sweden) we have something called "every mans right" which means you're allowed to camp anywhere you want in nature as long as you don't destroy anything or disturb the wildlife/people living nearby.
here in the us government land is public land. aslong as it isn't a park or military or otherwise leased its free camping for a month then you'd be kicked off. so national forests, BLM land you can do it. parks you have to pay and stay in camping areas.
in the old world the only option is trespassing, so you have eroded your property rights to compensate.
God forbid you have a folding knife or protect yourself
Not the uk. England .
Seems to be ok to camp in Park Lane London.
Well technically its not illegal but majority of places are owned by people or buisnesses so permission is needed.
But also you wont be arrested for it or for trespassing because for trespass you need a warning. So the worst that will happen is you're asked to leave, and you leave.
Might be illegal but as long as youre not a dick and clean up everywhere you go and respect peoples houses and whatnot, even the landowners generally wont care
When I was a young lad wild camping was just called camping. We did it every weekend. Walked somewhere, pitched a tent and hung out, made a fire. Never a problem. Now government wants to control every aspect of our lives and freedoms,
lock him up
If your asked to move just find somewhere else. Its rare someone would ask as long as your not trashing the place and leave it in the same state as before people are ok with it. If the worst came to worst its probably because you were asked to move and didnt or your littering or burning everything and the police would just tell you to move and if you didnt you would be fined. So just dont be a dick.
Trespass is a civil matter so all good 👍🏻
What a stupid country.
