Anti-social and reckless driving brings misery to communities across the country.

To combat this, West Midlands Police carried out an operation to crack down on illegal e-bikes in Birmingham city centre – where 16 bikes were seized and riders fined.

Under new powers these bikes will be disposed of after 48 hours, making it harder for offenders to reclaim them and continue their dangerous behaviour. Previously, police had to wait 14 days, allowing vehicles to be returned to offenders, often encouraging repeat offences.

Anti-social behaviour, in any form, will not be tolerated in our communities.

  1. Half of them stopped are probably here and working illegally? But to be honest it's about time that the police started investigating real crimes instead of persecuting ebikes and especially motorists, they are just easy targets ,why arrest a mugger when they might get attacked and then end up in the hospital, but instead they go to the easy option, the motorists! Also why can't he get his bike back, surely this is theft,if it is illegal on the road, it doesn't stop him from using it on private land! These arrogant and corrupt coppers are a big part of the problem, treating people with utter contempt and disrespect!

  2. e bikes are primarily a pedal powered bike with electric assistance, when needed. These are NOT that description, they are totally electric power, so should be classed as an electric bike, which the rider should have a licence, crash helmet and they should be taxed.
Even a moped can't travel as fast as these.

  3. Illegal e-bikes OPENLY AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ONLINE IN ANY COUNTRY. Involvement of the police force here is ridiculous if the inherent objective displayed is to be believed as an actuality!! The UK has lost ANY sensibility it once may have had with this portrayal of utter delusion & a distinct lack of intelligence!! Consider the required stupidity for an officer of the law to derive the TOP SPEED OF AN E-BIKE by holding the wheel in the air & accelerating, without even a brain cell that reflects that the WEIGHT OF THE BIKES RIDER would've influenced that decision of MAX speed SIGNIFICANTLY. So everyone driving towards a pedestrian crossing is essentially performing DANGEROUS DRIVING?? A motorbike essentially has no pedals on a crank & chain set-up, who would like to determine of a slight chance or HIGH LIKELYHOOD that the 'motorbike' they state to be confiscating if shown on camera would have pedals like a bicycle??
ESSENTIAL POLICE DUTY TO PROVIDE BETTERMENT FOR CITIZENS OF THE UK, THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT!!
