Why choose MAGURA brakes and suspension?
Know-how
MAGURA has always been a pioneer of hydraulic brakes for bikes producing the first widely accepted stoppers as early as 1987. The knowledge gained from over 60 years of experience developing brakes for BMW motorcycles made the technology transfer possible.
There are good suspension forks and good disc brakes out there. However, the interaction between the two can often be a let down. Not so with MAGURA forks, that are built with the main specification that they are to be used with powerful disc brakes. All MAGURA forks are approved for disc brakes up to 210mm rotor diameter!
Reliability
The reliability of MAGURA products is legendary. Our components have been celebrated by the bike press for years. German consumers are very demanding (have a look on their cars…!) and bike components are no exception to that rule. Since 1998 every year 20.000 readers of German Bike Magazine,”Mountain Bike”, have voted for MAGURA, ten times in a row, as the “Best Brand”, in the category brakes.
Low maintenance/environmentally friendly
MAGURA brakes work with mineral oil, are therefore uncomplicated to work with,(no poisonous/carcinogenic brake fluid) giving years of trouble free service. In a nutshell: mineral is nicer stuff to deal with — safe our planet!

MAGURA — where technology meets character.
Running my mantra vx at pretty much the mantra 1 spec, love it. Not light by any means though the wheels are a key factor in this (they weigh 1290 g front and 1500g back on my scales more than Halo SAS’s!) however swap them out and you’ll see the light. The handling is superb can be chucked around yet feels well planted, the fork is reasonable however i’d prefer something a bit more beefy, the brakes are decent for the budget, the sram gearing is a smart move why anyone buys shimano is beyond me never again, cranks are poor however definitely gonna upgrade to deore hollowtech 2’s why spend more? And for anyone who thinks the mantra is the poor relation to the zen, take a peek at the 05 zens and compare as they’re very similar. Change the wheels for something else and you should see it at about 30lbs which for a little thrasher is great top bike
Summary
The massive range of fork travel will keep the fettlers happy, and it’s a fast, comfy ride over rough terrain, but better crankset would be a worthwhile upgrade.Extreme uk Mountain Bikinghamulce Magura HS33, Hydraulic Cycle Brakes Cannondale F6
