At 55, I’m proving that age is just a number when it comes to MTB and fitness! Today I took on two tough challenges at Boggart Hole Clough in Manchester with my Giant Stance 2 Black Diamond — and pushed myself harder than ever.

Challenge 1: The notorious 99 Step Challenge – a steep, uneven set of stone and concrete steps with a wooden bridge halfway down and a sharp turn into the final section. Carrying the bike up nearly wiped me out, but riding down (slow and steady!) was one of the scariest and most rewarding things I’ve done on a bike.

Challenge 2: Tackling a hidden woodland trail full of roots, twists, climbs, and fast-flowing sections. It’s just under a mile long, but it tested my balance, cardio, and determination from start to finish.

By the end, I was drenched in sweat, heart pounding, and proud to say I completed both goals. MTB isn’t just about trails — it’s about building fitness, resilience, and confidence at any age.
