Hi, my name is Sebastian and I’m Paola and we are the cycling experts. We moved from London to Costlanca in Spain a year ago and discovered that Spain is not only a popular holiday destination, but also a paradise for cyclists. We opened this YouTube channel to take you with us on our cycling adventures and show you what Spain has to offer to expats in general, but more specifically and more importantly to cyclists. In today’s video, we are cycling from our home in Tera to Aleante, which is a really beautiful city around 60 kilometers away. Yeah. 60 km away from here. So it’s our third time cycling to Aleante and today we are trying a new route that we planned because uh the second time we went there we had a GPS malfunction and instead of riding for only let’s say 50 or 60 maximum kilometers we had to ride for around 78 kilometers because our GPS decided that it’s better to follow just bike lanes but that’s another story. So today we are trying a new route which is uh also supposed to be a really beautiful and scenic one. Uh since from Santapola to Aleante which is the last portion of our uh ride. We are supposed to ride along the sea. So that should be pretty. Let’s hope it will actually be like this. Most of our videos will be cycling related but we will also discuss key aspects of life in Spain, differences between the UK and Spain and how to adapt to them and maybe other topics. So, let us know in the comment section below if there is a specific topic you would like us to cover. Don’t forget to like and subscribe because that helps our channel grow. And please don’t be harsh because this is our first video. [Music] At the moment we are almost halfway and we just wanted to show you these amazing olive trees. People in this area grow decorative trees and they ship them to villas and households. And we just wanted to share this with you because it’s quite amazing. Another thing we wanted to mention is the infrastructure and we’ll be making more videos along the way to show you more of this. Um, we have tens of kilometers of cycle lanes in this area. So, it’s absolutely amazing to cycle from one city to another. We’ll probably be making another video about this. So, that’s a that’s a topic for for another time. Uh, just to show you some some stats for the journey. We’ve been cycling for 1 hour and 33 minutes. Burned 83 calories so far. And the average speed, it’s been 22.2 km so far. Uh we have a strong headwind at the moment. Uh which is good and bad, which is which is good and bad. Uh that’s our excuse at the moment for not being too fast. Uh anyway, this is not the competition. We’re just enjoying and um we’ll take you along the way just to show how how nice it is to cycle around here. [Music] We just stopped at little in Santa Paula to refuel. Just grabbed some blueberries, banana, and some water. And uh some bad luck. Unfortunately, I have a flat on both wheels, which is not that great. Fortunately, we do carry a flat repair kit with us, which is a lifesaver. But yeah, lately I’ve been uh I’ve been having a lot of bad luck with this bike. Don’t know why, cuz I do have an an older bike uh which I’ve been using for 15 years now. And I think in total I had two flats on that bike. So not sure what’s what’s wrong with this one. Maybe the puncture protection on the tire is not so great. Um yeah. So it’s time to get to work, eat some blueberries, and get to work on repairing the flats. So yeah, wish me luck. All right, so we finished uh removing the inner tube on the on the back wheel. I applied the patch. And while this is drying, we’re going to go ahead and remove the front wheel cuz I also have a flat on that one. Uh so while while the back uh the back one is drying, we’re going to remove the front one and do that one as well to save some time. One eternity later and we’re still here. Looks like a mobile workshop. I’m just waiting for the for the glue to dry on the second patch that I applied. Some of the holes can be very difficult to find. I find that sometimes it helps to to just bring the inner tube close to your mouth. Inflate it a bit with your pump and just bring it close to your mouth so that you can feel so that you can feel the air with your with your lips air blowing out of the tube. Sometimes it also helps to make it wet so that it will make bubbles. Yeah. Hopefully we’ll be back on the way shortly. All right, so we’re finally back on the road. Um, turned out I had two flats on the uh rear wheel and one on the front wheel. Uh, the holes were really really tiny and difficult to difficult to find, difficult to locate. Uh, yeah, not not the best experience unfortunately. But yeah, these things happen occasionally. So, in my opinion, every cyclist should be ready for them. And yeah, we’re now on the uh on the seafront of Santa Paula. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Just show you around. So, yeah. Well, help me forget about the about the flats and we’ll be back on the way. Hey, hey, hey. So, we’re back from Alicante. We’re on the way back now. We didn’t film while we were there because the battery on our main camera died. So, we just had some Yeah. Amazing. It’s going great. Today couldn’t be better. Uh we just had some food quickly, some ice cream, and now we’re back. We stopped in a in a town, seaside town called Urbanova. It’s quite stunning to be honest. Uh maybe you can just just see the houses over there on top of the hill and the palm trees. And you can see some some crazy guys doing some paragliding, I think it’s called. And there are three of them. Don’t know if you can see them, but yeah, it’s quite quite stunning over here. We we do recommend stopping here if you if you’re in the area. So, yeah. Now, we’re just going to crack on because I think we have around one 1 hour left of uh of daylight. So, yeah, going to crack on and see you guys later. It’s 10:30 p.m. and we are in Guardamard del Segura now. 17 km away from home. So very close. Feels like home already. And uh yeah, we we took a different route on the way back. Uh because the initial one was more scenic, but uh we didn’t want to waste more time. So yeah, everything’s good. Uh no punctures on the way back, which was although there were three earlier. Although there were three. Yeah, three on the way. On the way there. And uh yeah, it’s it’s all good now. We have a headlight. It’s all plenty of light to see where we’re going. And uh yeah, it’s all good. Thank you for Thank you for being with us along the journey.
